**Dr. Finlayson-Fife will be hosting a Facebook Live for singles on January 27th at 1 PM MT, click HERE to join our Facebook Group so you can participate!**

When dealing with unwanted porn use or unwelcome sexual feelings, it’s easy to feel victimized by our environment and choices.

But it’s important to know that the way that we frame these behaviors MATTERS.

Certain framing leaves us feeling powerless and that we have little control over our behavior. But when we shift to a more agentic frame and take deeper responsibility for our lives and choices, we open ourselves up to making decisions that are more in line with our higher selves.

In this NEW PODCAST episode, Dr. Finlayson-Fife joins Taylor Chambers MS, LMFT to discuss unwanted porn use and how our framing of the behavior can make all the difference. They also discuss how honesty with ourselves and our partner can open us up to more sexual fulfillment and connection.

Listen to the full episode to learn more about:

    Addiction framing vs Agentic framing

Sexuality as a mechanism for personal development

Coming to peace with your sexuality

Honesty and its role in our relationships

It takes emotional maturity to show up honestly in your life and expose what you really think, feel, and desire–especially when those thoughts and feelings diverge from the norms of your larger social group. The fear of not belonging can keep us from acknowledging who we really are.

In this NEW PODCAST episode, Dr. Finlayson-Fife joins Sarah Carter of the Heart and Soul podcast to discuss the complexity of making room for your own thoughts and desires when you also belong to a family or larger group, and how unyielding expectations can interfere with self-acceptance, body acceptance, and honest relationships with others.

The importance of acknowledging our honest thoughts and desires

It’s been a rough year for Nate and Nora.

Their marriage has been a relatively peaceful and comfortable one, but now things are different. Navigating Nate’s faith transition has been difficult for both of them. Nate is seemingly sprinting down this new path and Nora, while she makes efforts to understand, needs more time and patience than Nate is willing to provide. While recent changes have brought some newfound beauty and depth to their relationship, she often finds herself craving the stability and certainty of the past.

In this episode of Room for Two, Dr. Finlayson-Fife helps Nate and Nora see how they have each handled their fear and anxiety in destructive ways – Nora becoming rigid and Nate turning to condescension. These strategies are compelling because they are an easy escape from the intensity and discomfort of marital growth and expansion. Dr. Finlayson-Fife explains that the path to more stability and connection in their relationship is differentiation – learning to tolerate the aloneness and invalidation that comes when you love someone who sees and experiences the world differently than you do.

Truth

JFF continually says that she is here to share TRUTH! Her philosophies of sexuality and hope resonates with me! I remember as a teen and young single adult enduring the “chastity” lessons over and over again-thinking that something was off in those discussions! JFF gives everything a new light and an ownership to sexuality that I have been missing! So glad I found her! My married life is changing and I can be more truthfully informed on sexuality just in time to help my children!!! Love this lady. Love this podcast! I’m hooked and addicted!! Thank you JFF for fulfilling the measure of your creation!!!

Not a good fit for LDS Members

These podcasts are NOT based in LDS doctrine. She is monetizing her Church membership by trying to appeal to that audience, while undermining some basic LDS doctrine. Look elsewhere for advice if you are active LDS. Pornography is never ok, etc.

Continual Wisdom

It’s astonishing how much wisdom comes from Jennifer Finlayson-Fife. I don’t believe there is another human who approaches her level of tact, knowledge, and wisdom especially with respect to issues that are so difficult yet so central to our core as humans, as lovers, as parents, friends, and Christians. I learn more and become a better person with each episode of her podcast.
