All-In with Chamath, Jason, Sacks & Friedberg

I’ve been involved in private-equity and venture capital for 15 years and I find the All-In podcast insightful and at times, a cautionary sentinel or predictive harbinger. My friends who are critical of it suffer from TDS, and I’ll take rational and thoughtful perspective over the increasingly violent woke anytime. I’ve made four investments in companies adjacent to medical breakthroughs that Friedberg has highlighted, and though I lost some money years ago in a few of the SPACs launched by Chamath, I still appreciate that he’s on the forefront of capital allocation strategies. Male friendships of substance can be difficult to maintain, and I consider these four guys and their occasional guests to be good role models for how to do that well while trying to make a difference in people’s lives. Kudos.

All-in brings unique perspective across business, news, investments, technology, and politics. The “besties” are remarkably accomplished and bring balanced and insightful views across topics.

I used to love the All In podcast and looked forward to every new episode. It was smart, balanced, and genuinely interesting. Unfortunately, it’s really gone downhill. The egos and political biases have gotten way too strong — Sacks and Chamath are openly all in for Trump now. I don’t mind hearing different political opinions (even some MAGA), but I’d like to hear both sides presented fairly. Friedberg still seems like the most rational of the bunch as I enjoy his “Science Corner” segments, screw you Sacks. The fourth guy, honestly, is more annoying than insightful lately. Too often now the show is filled with celebrity name-drops, talk about luxury clothing brands the average person would never be able to afford, or stories about yachts and European vacations. It used to be about ideas, technology, the economy; now it’s about status. What a shame — this podcast used to be one of the best.

I used to really enjoy this podcast. Listened from the beginning. But the degree of selling out and sucking up to the administration, especially Sacks and Chamath at the heart of the grift, is so deeply disappointing. They no longer talk about anything that might upset the administration, and avoid topics that are critical (Trump coin anyone?). Also the private jets and summers in Italy is unrelatable and irritating. You’re rich, we get it. The last year won’t age well fellas. I hope the attention and money is worth it. How much is enough, anyway? Friedberg is exempted from all of this, but his intellect and incisive positions are not enough to make it listenable.
