    #430 UFC BJJ 5 Preview Can Anyone Beat Mikey? Mikey Musumeci vs Shay Montague

    This week on the show Maine and Miranda preview, the UFCBJJ5 headline by Mikey Musumeci vs Shay Montague for the Bantamweight title.  We preview the main event talking about some of Mikey's past opponents and talking about the recent accolades from Shay we discussed some of the dynamics of the match, including the leg lock avenues that both men are well known for finishing fights with as well as some of the interesting positional work that may take place due to both grappler being so strong from bottom position and top position.  In the co main event we discussed the middleweight title between Ronaldo Souza Junior vs Tarik Hopstock talking about some of the stylistic pairings and the submission hunting style from Hopstock against the top pressure and the headhunting of Ronaldo.   Later in the card we discussed Andy Murasaki vs Andy Varela discussing some possible Camp changes for Murisaki and how this potentially may factor into this matchup we talked about some of the stylist tendencies that Varella typically operates with and how this may or may not be a factor against Murisaki.  In Landon Elmore vs Rerisson Gabriel we discussed the ever present danger of the foot lock from Landon and potentially where this puts both men in the title picture in the featherweight division.  In Taylor Hishaw vs Rebeca Lima Mona we talked about the activity of Taylor and her wrestling against the training and accolades of Lima.  In Mona Bailey vs Carol Brunacio we talked about how excited we were to see Mona competing on a super fight at the black belt level. In Jalen Fonacier vs Carlos Oliveira we discussed this interesting matchup with Carlos being brought into the UFC BJJ roster against the exciting style of Jalen.  Recorded 2-9-2026

    #429 Polaris 35 Recap Polaris Vs WNO

    This week on the show Maine and Maggie recap Polaris 35 Team Polaris Vs Team WNO Squads. We kick off the show talking about the Middleweight title superfight between Davis Asare vs Levi Jones-Leary we talk about Levi's game plan versus Davis and how he used De la Riva hook and threat of the Berimbolo to win all three rounds with commanding positional work and solid top positioning once on top. We also discussed some of the possible avenues for Davis to take the match and question some of the tactical and strategic choices made in the match. In our recap of Selma Vik vs Adele Fornarino we discussed the position of work from Adele and her phenomenal ninja role back in the second round to secure the rear, naked, choke and take the victory. In the recap of the squads event, we went through every single match for the entire event discussing the points, structure and layout every single submission, and some of the tactical choices that teams made in fielding their athletes in certain matchups.     This week on the show Maine and Corey preview Polaris 35 the Polaris Vs WNO squads event, and recap every Black Belt Final at the 2026 IBJJF Euros.  In the preview section of the event we discuss Polaris going to FloGrappling after a decade on fightpass. We talk about the stacked squads event with Team Polaris bringing Santeri Lilius, Eoghan O'Flanagan, Lucas Kanard, Taylor Pearman, Owen Jones, and Meyram Maquine. Then break down Team WNO consisting Declan Moody, Luccas Lira, Devhonte Johnson, Chris Wojcik, Gavin Corbe, and his brother Deandre Corbe.  We also talk about the superfights between Levi Jones-Leary vs Davis Asare, and Adele Fornarino vs Selma Vik.  In the recap of the 2026 IBJJF European championship we break down every adult black belt finals match and the women's openweight final.  With all of Baltimore snowed in this show was recorded remotely last minute so regular audio quality should return once everyone is shoveled out by next week.  Recorded 1-26-2026

    This week on the show Maine and Miranda preview the 2026 IBJJF European Championship for all the adult black belt divisions. We also recap the main event of F2W 302.  In the preview section of the show, we take a look at every single adult black belt division for the men and the women. We talked about the seeding of each division and some of the most interesting potential matchups in each division as well as who we think the front runners, and people most likely to take gold at this year's first Grand Slam event to kick off the IBJJF 2026 Gi season.  We also talk about the divisions that we are most excited to see as well as divisions with no returning champions where new competitors are poised to take their first black belt championships.  Recorded 1-19-2026

    This week on the show Maine and Miranda recap RAF 5, F2W 301.  In the recap section of the show we discuss the RAF 5 event Headlined by Colby Covingtondefeating Luke Rockholdvia Tech fall in the second round. We discussed the rematch of Kyle Dake vsMahamedkhabib "Kadi" Kadzimahamedau for the Cruiserweight title which Dake retained points 10-7.  In Armenia Arman Tsarukyanvs Lance Palmerwe talked about the 1 minute 35 second tech fall Arman won with and his master of sport credentials.  We talked about late replacement bout Stephen Buchananvs Yoel Romerowhere the NCAA champion tech falled Romero in the second.  We also talked about Bo Bassett vs Cayden Henschellwhere Bo took the tech fall win in the first round.  In the recap of Fight to Win 301 we talked about the main event 190 pound title between Dominic Ramos vs Francisco Lo that Lo took via decision to retain the title.  Recorded 1-11-2026

    #424 UFC BJJ First Feeder Org CFFC BJJ 16 Recap

    This week on the show Maine and Zak recap CFFC BJJ 16. We kick up we kick off with the recap section of the show discussing how CFFC BJJ is now a direct feeder to the UFC BJJ adopting the same rules used in that organization with the three round system and the same judging criteria. We talk about the main event of Oliver Taza vs Andrew Kochell we discussed some of the passing work from Taza coupled against the entries that Andrew was attempting to make into the legs. We discussed the back in the end of the first round for Taza and then discuss the finishing triangle for Taza in the second round. In the Co-Main event, we discussed the heavyweight matchup between Alexandr Romanov vs Brian Newman. We talked about the foot sweep in the first round from Romonov and then the takedown cattlecatch turnover that Alexandr hit in the second round to eventually take the Beckwith and get the rear naked choke. We also broke down Max Hanson vs Steve Joachim talking about the leg lock entries that Max was able to hit early and the very interesting front split that Steve decided to try and counter the entries with. We also talked about the finishing sequence with the knee bar transition into an inside heel hook. In the Female Light-Featherweight final between Ashlee Funegra vs Anne Druckrey we talked about Funegra's impassable guard, her flexibility, and her dominant 11-2 points win to claim the title. In the Female Featherweight final between Adele Fornarino vs Ana Mayordomo we discussed the viral sixteen-second finish and Fornarino's immediate entry into the legs to get the sub. In the Female Lightweight final between Lillian Marchand vs Amanda Bruse we talked about Marchand's rear naked choke finish. In the Female Middleweight final between Elisabeth Clay vs Rebeca Lima we discussed Clay's submission run through the division and open class and the quick outside heel hook finish. In the Female Medium-Heavyweight final between Helena Crevar vs Ane Svendsen we talked about the teenage phenom's 100% submission rate and her clinic of a performance ending in a rear naked choke. In the Female Heavyweight final between Cassia Moura vs Nia Blackman we discussed Moura's use of wrestling to control the match and win via points. In the Female Super Heavyweight final between Gabrieli Pessanha vs Lauren Rojas we talked about Pessanha's 19-0 and some control concerns we have for her in NoGi.  In the Male Roosterweight final between Shay Montague vs Lucas Castro we discussed Montague late triangle choke win from the re-guard.  In the Male Light-Featherweight final between Marcos Gomes vs Kleber Barboza we talked about the 50/50 entry inside heel hook finish that ended the match. In the Male Featherweight final between Marco Mendes vs Gianni Grippo we discussed the tactical points battle from Marco and the submission hunting Gianni did throughout the match and Mendes' decisive late sweep to secure the 8-6 points victory. In the Male Lightweight final between Cole Abate vs Julian Espinosa we talked about Abate's dominant passing game, his submission threats, and the 14-0 shutout to win his second title. In the Male Middleweight final between Tarik Hopstock vs Marcelo Fausto we discussed Hopstock's creative open guard, his use of submission threats, and his ability to outscore Fausto. In the Male Medium-Heavyweight final between Pawel Jaworski vs Gabriel Brod we talked about the shocking twenty-second match and Jaworski's immediate backsize 50/50 inversion to a heel hook finish. In the Male Heavyweight final between Javier Barter vs Faris Benlamkadem we discussed Barter's fast start leading to a quick back take and rear naked choke.
