    #443 2026 IBJJF Brasileiros Recap

    This week on the show Maine and Corey recap the 2026 IBJJF Brasileiro Championship. In the recap section of the show, we run through both the men's and the women's adult black belt divisions, discussing select finals match as well as the open class for both the men's and women's divisions. In our recap of the men's divisions, We talk about Rerisson Gabriel's win over Diego "Pato" Oliveira Batista in the light-featherweight division by 2 advantages.  We talk about Meyram Maquiné Alves 5-2 points win over Cleison Gabriel Santos at featherweight.  We discuss Andy Murasaki's armbar submission against Luis Felipe da Silva Ribas in the lightweight division.  We break down Tainan Dalpra's toe hold victory over José Steve Nduazulu Ndilu in the middleweight finals.  We talk about Alex Munis and his 2-0 points win over João Gabriel Galvão at medium-heavyweight. As well as Leonardo Silveira Ferreira securing a win on advantages over Rider Zuchi in the heavy division.  We discuss Vinicius Liberati's advantage win over Erich Munis at super-heavyweight, and Gutemberg Pereira's referee decision victory over Pedro Alex in the ultra-heavyweight finals.  Finally, we break down Erich Munis vs Gabriel Ribeiro in the absolute division and talk about Munis triangle armbar sub to win the open class title. In our recaps of the women's divisions we talk about Mayssa Bastos vs Jessica Caroline and how Mayssa was up 17-0 before her mounted cross choke or breadcutter choke win.  We talk about Sarah Galvao's 4-0 advantages win over Vitoria Vieira at lightweight. We discuss Elisabeth Clay's toe hold win against Lillian Marchand in the middleweight finals.  We break down Gabi Pessanha vs Mikaela Lima and talk about her arm triangle choke finish.  We talk about Gabi Pessanha's absolute final rematch with Sarah Galvao and her commanding 12-0 points victory to secure double gold.     #442 Recap of all 6 Titles on the Line at Main Character BJJ 9

    This week on the show Maine and Miranda recap Main Character Jiu Jitsu 9 and all the title fights on the card as well as some of the other compelling matchups on the rest of the card We kick off the recap with the Men's Lightweight title we Gianni Grippo vs Reese LaFever, we talked about the outside passing off of outside Ashi against LaFever. As well as the sweep game from the bottom as well as the defensive chops of LaFever in escaping the triangle armbar from the back.  Women's Bantamweight match which is a rematch between Amanda Bruse vs Jasmine Rocha.  We discussed their most recent matchup at WNO and how this match essentially looked the same for Amanda if she was able to sustain the pressure and keep diligent with the knee cut. We talked about the transition that Amanda hit for the armbar finish.  In the recap of the Men's Middleweight title between Nick Mataya vs Marlon Tajik, we discussed odd ankle lock finish that Marlon was able to hit from the guard.  In the Men's Welterweight title recap between Kade Tsitos vs Josh Cisneros, we talked about the leg lock entries from Tsitos and how Cisneros was able to counter and escape and the vintage jumping triangles that Josh used to set up a dominate offence early and win on points in and wrestling and passes in overtime.  In the Women's Lightweight title Helena Crevar vs Kennedy Franklin, we discussed the finish triangle from the back shoulder lock. We briefly discussed the Women's Flyweight title with Natasha Druggan vs Jaine Fragoso scoring on MCBJJ 9.  We recapped the dominate passing performance from Felipe Costa vs Jon "Thor" Blank, discussing the guard work from Jon coupled against the top pressure and Xande Six Blades Lovato style pressure passing that allowed Costa to take the match on points.  We also briefly talked about the style matchups in Austin Oranday vs Max Hanson, and Francisco Lo vs Logan Smith.     #441 Preview of A Bunch of Great Title Fights MCJJ 9

    This week on the show Maine and Josh preview Main Character Jiu Jitsu 9 and all the title fights on the card as well as some of the other compelling matchups on the rest of the card We kick off the preview, take a look at every single title fight, starting off with the Women's Bantamweight match which is a rematch between Amanda Bruse vs Jasmine Rocha.  We discussed their most recent matchup at WNO and how the late finish from Jasmine sealed her the match. We talked about some of the game plan that Amanda might change and how the match time may play a factor in this rematch. In our preview of the Men's Middleweight Nick Mataya vs Marlon Taji, we discussed next most recent performance against Jacob Boreman at WNO, and Marlons European trials win and recent IBJJF Crown performance against Victor Hugo. In the Men's Welterweight title Kade Tsitos vs Josh Cisneros, we talked about the leg lock and wrestling offense from Kade coupled against the diligent positional work from Josh.  In the Women's Lightweight title Helena Crevar vs Kennedy Franklin, we discussed the difficulty in matching up Helena and the strength of her recent performances at the top level. In the Men's Lightweight title we previewed Gianni Grippo vs Reese LaFever, we talked about the recent strength of Grippos performances at West Coast trials, coupled against the hot prospect in LaFever. We discussed the longevity of Gianni game and how he is still competing at the top level for nearly the last 15 years. We briefly discussed the Women's Flyweight title with Natasha Druggan vs Jaine Fragoso. We previewed Felipe Costa vs Jon "Thor" Blank, discussing the guard work from Jon coupled against the top pressure and Xande Six Blades Lovato style pressure passing in a dichotomy match.  We also briefly talked about the style matchups in Austin Oranday vs Max Hanson, Francisco Lo vs Logan Smith, and Hunter Colvin vs Pat Shagholi.  Recorded 4-27-2026

    #440 ADCC West Coast Trials 2026 Recap

    This week on the show, Maine and Adam recap the 2026 ADCC West Coast trials. In the recap section of the show we kicked off discussing the -66 kg finals matchup between Gianni Grippo vs Dominic Mejia, we talk about the early regulation back toke that Dominic nearly scored and the phenomenal understanding of the rules and the gamesmanship that Gianni implemented to avoid the score then we discussed the wild overtime that Grippo was able to finish with a rear-naked choke in order to secure his spot at the 2026 world championships.  ]In the -77kg final we discuss Michale Sainz vs Max Hanson we talked about the fantastic passing offense that Michael implemented to keep Max on the defensive in the guard and then we discussed the near score that led to Michale taking the match by decision. In -88kg we recap Nathan Haddad vs Ryan Aitken we talked about the counter, takedown sequences between both of them and the phenomenal takedown entry into guard pull off of the throw that Ryan was able to hit my to avoid the early penalty with the pull we also discussed the three second rule that led to the negative point for Ryan resulting in Nathan getting the win. 0-1 on penalties. In -99kg we briefly discussed Elder Cruz vs Steffen Banta where Banta received a negative for an activity leading to Elder winning the match 0-1 on penalties. In +99kg Nick Hartman vs Francis Pana we discussed the entry that Nick was able to hit into the straight ankle lock to take the division. In the women's qualifier, we recap the -55kg final with Sheliah Lindsey vs Valerie Hamilton where Lindsey was able to secure the back and win 3-0 on points. In the -65kg recap we discussed Sarah Galvão vs Jadeya Reber with Sarah able to get the rear-naked choke before the points period in regulation. In +65kg final between Paige Ivette Clymer vs Elizabeth Mitrovic we talked about the pacing and activity From page as well as her submission offense leading to her, taking the match by decision.     #438 UFC BJJ 7 and WNO 32 Recap

    This week on the show, Maine and Josh recap the UFC BJJ 7 and WNO 32.  In the recap section of the show, we discussed the lightweight tournament for the WNO title at 155 pounds we discussed Dorian Olivarez and his various improvements since 2023 leading to two ADCC trials victories, and we discussed how his wrestling in passing game have evolved to be an absolute nightmare for everyone in the -66 kg division.  We also discussed some of the various other matchups on the card. In our recap of UFC BJJ 7 we talk about the 170 pound welterweight title fight between Andrew Tackett vs Vagner Rocha. We discussed where Vagner is at in his career and how he was able to make this a competitive match. I'll be at one-sided even at 43 years old.  We discussed Andrew Tackett's Unanimous Decision when to retain the belt and who his possible opponents, possibly could be with such an unknown division with no standard roster. We discussed the lightweight title between Lucas Valente vs Carlos "CH7" Henrique. Where Lucas was able to finish a straight ankle or kneebar variation to take the title we also discussed who he may face in the future. We also break down the following matches and their results on the card. Rebeca Lima vs Aurelie Le Vern that ended in Unanimous Decision for Lima.  Declan Moody vs Patrick Gaudio that saw Moody finish a quick Rear Naked Choke An interesting matchup in Raphael Ferreira vs Kenzo Biyong where Ferreria finished a Rear Naked Choke We talked about a phenomenal championship level women's match in Adele Fornarino vs Alex Enriquez that ended in one of the cleanest redrag kneebars weve ever seen at this level by Adele. We talked about the Nebor finish for Rana Willink vs Carol Joia As well as as Renato Canuto vs Yonathan Cardenas that ended in Unanimous Decision for Canuto. Recorded 4-5-2026

    This week on the show, Maine and Miranda recap the 2026 IBJJF pan championships.  We recap every single black belt, adult finals match, including the open class for both the men's and women's divisions.  We kick off the recap with the men's Roosterweight Division with Marcos Gomes vs Bebeto Oliveira. In the Featherweight Division Cole Abate vs Samuel Nagai we talk about the final sequence that allowed Cole Abate to win by Points 6-4 In the Lightweight Division Jackson Nagai vs Will Wilson we talked about Jackson Nagai points win after some fantastic offense in Will's deep half, and an out of bounds scoring call.  In the Middleweight Division Tainan Dalpra vs Elijah Dorsey we talked about Tainan Dalpra pull and sweep and passing that has him take the match on Points 9-0 In the Medium-Heavyweight Division Enderson Dias vs Alex Munis, we talked about Enderson Dias winning by 1 advantage on a double pull come up.
