How To Actually Make Your New Year's Resolutions Stick

Every year, we tell ourselves this is the year we finally change things. We reset on January 1st. We make big promises. We swear this time will be different. And then life happens. A day gets missed. A habit slips. Motivation fades. And suddenly the goal that mattered so much feels heavy, frustrating, or out of reach. In this episode, I break down how to actually make your New Year's resolutions stick, even when life gets in the way. This isn't about discipline, motivation, or forcing yourself to be perfect. It's about building goals that can survive missed days, busy weeks, and real life. I talk about why the "fresh start" mindset sets so many guys up to quit, why missing a day doesn't erase your progress, and how to break big goals into simple systems you can return to again and again. You don't need a perfect reset. You don't need to start over. You just need a way to keep going. Timestamps 00:00 – Why we treat New Year's like a "reset button" 01:30 – The pressure we put on January 1st 03:00 – Why life doesn't actually change when the calendar does 05:00 – How missing one day turns into quitting altogether 07:10 – There is no grand reset and why that matters 09:30 – The brushing your teeth mindset for goals 11:45 – Why missing a day doesn't erase your progress 14:00 – How I think about goals like reading a book 16:15 – My simple framework for setting goals 18:30 – Breaking big goals into smaller systems 20:45 – My personal fitness goal and how I structure it 23:00 – Why consistency matters more than perfection 25:20 – How to keep going when motivation fades 27:00 – Final thoughts and how to apply this anytime during the year Subscribe, give this episode 5 stars, and leave a review: Watch the full episode on YouTube: @guyset Instagram: @guysetpodcast Ask Me Anything: https://guyset.com/ask-me-anything Daily blog posts: https://guyset.com/ TikTok: @theguyset Email: josh@guyset.com See you guys next Tuesday!

Why Am I So Nervous To Ask Someone Out In Person?

Almost 50% of guys ages 18–25 have never asked someone out in person. Not because they do not want to, but because they hesitate. In this episode of Guyset, I break down why asking someone out feels so nerve-wracking now, where the fear actually comes from, and why the usual advice like "just shoot your shot" does not help when you are in your head. I talk about dating anxiety, fear of rejection, confidence, and the shame loop that keeps guys frozen instead of moving. I share my own experiences, the mindset shift that helped me stop overthinking, and a way to reframe fear so it stops running the show. If you have ever wanted to ask someone out but talked yourself out of it, replayed the moment on the way home, or felt like everyone else has it figured out except you, this episode is for you. New episodes every Tuesday answering the questions guys are actually asking. Farting in Relationships, Commitment Anxiety, and Social Media Signals: Dear Guyset

In this Dear Guyset episode, I answer the questions guys actually search for but rarely say out loud. I start with a big one: how to handle farting in a relationship, especially early on when you are trying to avoid making things awkward. Then I get into commitment anxiety and the real question behind it: how do you know if you are ready for a relationship, or are you just scared you will mess up something good? I also break down what it means if a girl likes your Instagram story, why an Instagram story like can be a form of indirect flirting, and what to do when it feels like the ball is suddenly in your court. I talk about dating uncertainty, mixed messages, rejection, and the pressure guys feel to have everything figured out before they commit. Just the honest perspective from someone who has been there and is still figuring it out too. The questions I answer timestamped: 02:32 – How do you handle farting in a relationship? 09:27 – What does it mean if a girl likes your Instagram story? 14:03 – She said she's not ready for a relationship. Is that a cop-out? 18:37 – How do I know if I'm ready for a relationship? 29:59 – My girlfriend never plans dates. How do I ask her to plan more? 39:10 – Next Dear Guyset question preview Send in your questions anonymously at https://guyset.com/ask-me-anything New episodes every Tuesday. Is It Bad To Be Jealous of My Friends?

Feeling jealous of a friend and not sure what that says about you? In this episode, I break down what jealousy actually means, why it shows up, and how it can reveal way more about your life than you think. This question came straight from a listener who asked, Is it bad to be jealous of my friend? My short answer is no. My real answer needed a full episode. A lot of guys wonder the same thing and also ask, Why do I get jealous of my friends and how do I stop it? Jealousy is one of the most common emotions guys feel, and most of us have no idea what to do with it. I talk about why "jealousy is rooted in insecurity. And I mean deeply rooted in insecurity" and how it can function as an indicator, a mirror, or even a motivator if you learn how to use it. I also get into the messy parts no one wants to admit. The comparisons. The resentment. The quick thoughts you do not mean but still feel. By the end of this episode, you will walk away knowing what your jealousy is actually trying to tell you and how to turn it into something positive instead of something that eats at your confidence. If you have ever compared yourself to a friend, felt behind, or wondered why someone else has something you want, this one will hit home. And like I say in the episode, "If one person's thinking that, at least 10 or a million other guys are feeling that way too." Borrowed Confidence

Ever wanted to borrow someone's confidence? Well now you can. In this episode, I break down the mindset shift that helped me stop overthinking, start taking action, and actually feel more confident in situations I used to avoid altogether. If you've ever looked at someone and wondered how they walk into a room like they belong there, or how they talk to people so easily, or how they seem unfazed by the things that make you second guess yourself, this episode is for you. I talk about what "borrowing confidence" really means and why it is the most practical version of fake it till you make it. You can literally try on someone else's confidence the same way you'd try on a jacket. You study what they do, you put the mindset on for a few minutes, and you see how it fits. And if it works, it becomes yours. If it doesn't, you return it and try something else. It is that simple. In this episode, I share exactly how I used this idea in real life. Learning how to speak up in meetings by watching someone with decades more experience. Borrowing someone's social confidence to walk up to a girl at a bar. Using Alix Earle's consistency framework to build my own posting schedule. And most recently, channeling Emma Chamberlain on a red carpet while interviewing the Succession cast for the first time. All of it came from studying people who already had what I wanted and using their momentum to build my own. This episode is packed with real examples, practical stories, and a clear framework you can use today. Borrow someone's confidence. Borrow their mindset. Borrow their discipline. Borrow whatever trait you need until it becomes yours. That is how you build the version of yourself you've been trying to become. If you feel stuck, unsure of yourself, dealing with self-doubt or imposter syndrome, or tired of wondering why other people seem so confident, start here. Confidence is not something you wait for. It is something you borrow until it becomes part of you. New episodes every Tuesday. Watch the full episode on YouTube and find daily articles, Q&A, and more at Guyset.com. What to Do When You Feel Stuck

In this episode, I talk about what actually happens when you feel stuck in life, why motivation disappears, and how to rebuild momentum when you feel burnt out or unsure of yourself. I walk through the moments where you lose belief in your abilities, the pressure guys put on themselves, the end-of-year slump, and the thoughts that make you question what you're doing. I also break down the mindset shifts that help you get unstuck in a way that finally feels practical. You'll learn how to recognize when you're in a fixed mindset, how burnout affects your sense of direction, and why getting out of a rut is something you practice one small step at a time, not something you magically wake up feeling ready for. Then I introduce the idea that changed everything for me: You can borrow momentum. You can borrow belief. You can look at someone you admire, study how they started, and borrow the patterns they use to move forward. It's the simplest way to find clarity again when you feel disconnected from yourself. I'll be following up on this idea in next week's episode eyes emoji! If you've been wondering things like: Why do I feel stuck right now How do I get out of a rut Why does my motivation disappear How do I feel like myself again What mindset shifts actually help Then this episode is for you. By the end, you'll have real tools you can use today. You'll know how to act like the person you want to become, how to borrow pieces of someone else's momentum while you build your own, and how to make small mindset shifts that help you move forward again. This is your guide to getting unstuck, finding clarity, and rebuilding your momentum one choice at a time. Subscribe, give this episode 5 stars, and leave a review!
