First I would like to condemn Hamas and all forms of political violence and I guess Hasan Piker too Joe. But seriously, WHY TF IS THIS A REAL ISSUE? As a black man living in Philadelphia (go birds), I am well aware and fully realize how ridiculous and cruel this country can be. But somehow I can still be baffled at just how evil it is. As I watch my voting rights get stripped away. The rights that my ancestors fought for, die for, be dehumanized for, watched entire towns get burned down to the ground, lynched by mobs and the law. I started to think, “what are MY DEMOCRATS going to do/say about this”? I guess it’s more important to condemn a twitch streamer than to help black people. You know there most loyal voting base ever. Nope. Seriously, Hasan gets a bill to condemn him and not white nationalists or the Proud boys. All this just for me to say is that we do not hate democrats enough. Not nearly enough. Keep up the great work you too. I hope my contribution to the patron helps you guys buy a house in what???… in cash.

The 2024 election broke me. I used to be the person refreshing polling averages, mainlining Twitter, and parsing every last data point like it meant something concrete. Then Trump got elected again, and I just couldn’t do it anymore. I barely skimmed headlines. I cared too much about how our government could change people’s lives, and it felt pointless to watch Trump dismantle it a second time. I couldn’t watch the train wreck. Lately, though, I’ve felt that old itch creeping back because Democrats have a fighting chance at controlling the Legislature. And in coming back online I stumbled onto HITO. Jeremy & Gage reframe the news to offer a lens and vocabulary that challenge MY DEMOCRATS to appeal to something more than the consultant class’s hypothetical swing voter. They create a permission structure to move past the safe takes and demand that the Democratic Party aim higher and deliver more. I’ve also really been enjoying the recent interviews that spotlight other creators who are also rethinking the modern Democratic Party. It makes HITO seem less like screaming into the void and more like part of an ecosystem of people forcing MY DEMOCRATS to serve voters and not the other way around. I won’t dare ask for more shows. But I must ask HITO - can you look into more Federal primary races? I’m curious where else besides the MI Senate race is locked in an ideological battle between the center and left. One race I’m really interested in is an often overlooked Federal seat - DC Mayor. Whoever wins the primary will be Mayor, and they can be the first line of agitation for Trump’s lame duck years.
