This is S.A. Bradley, and I’m a life-long horror lover. This podcast combines horror history, personal observations, common themes, and cultural trends to tell a story with each episode. Here we talk about all things horror. Horror movies, books, comics, hosts, conventions. The door swings wide here, and all types of horror are welcome. Each episode covers some aspect of horror with lots of viewing or reading suggestions for you to check out. I want to start conversations with people about all types of horror. I’ve been a fan all my life, and I love all the different styles: Classic Universal Monsters, Slasher Films, Found Footage, French Extreme, Asian Extreme, Korean Ghost Stories, J-Horror, Hammer Horror Films, Amicus Films, Glass Eye Pix, EC Horror Comics, Creature Features, Horror Hosts, Italian Zombie movies, Spanish Zombie movies, George Romero Zombie movies, Giallo, Silent Horror Films, Nature Run Amok, Atomic Age Horror, Roughies, Exploitation, Horror Literature, Serial Killer, Halloween, B-Movie, Splatter films, ghost stories, Folk Horror, supernatural, body horror, torture porn, VHS, Psycho.
Episode 096- Horror Double Feature- Part Two: Filmmakers Mike Watt and Amy Lynn Best
H4H is doing a Horror Double Feature with two podcasts of extended conversations with horror enthusiasts and creators!
Part Two is a stream-of-consciousness conversation with the filmmaking team of Amy Lynn Best and Mike Watt (The Resurrection Game, Splatter Movie: The Director's Cut, Razor Days).
We discuss their films and their publications (Exploitation Nation, Grindhouse Purgatory), and convention life in the indie horror world, as well as the horror of the "new normal" of 2020.
Episode 095- Horror Double Feature -Part One: The Unholy Three ft. Jon Kitley, Bryan Martinez, and S.A. Bradley
I think we all deserve a little more Halloween this year, so H4H is doing a Horror Double Feature with two podcasts of extended conversations with horror enthusiasts and creators! Part One is a fly-on-the-wall conversation between Jon Kitley (Kitley's Krypt, Discover the Horror: One Man's 50-Year Quest for Monsters, Maniacs, and the Meaning of it All), Bryan Martinez (Film Deviant, The Giallo Room), and S.A. Bradley.
Episode 094- The Two-Headed Monster of Horror and Science Fiction with Lisa Gorski
In the world of genre and fandom, the universal currency is passion. Fans of different genres normally would not mix, but there are areas of overlap, LIKE a GENRE VENN DIAGRAM. Join me and H4H producer, Lisa Gorski, as we discuss the overlap between two of the most passionate fandoms, HORROR AND SCIENCE FICTION. (shock: Lisa is NOT a horror fan!)
Episode 093- Again, Volatile Substance: Caligari Goes to the Oscars
2020 is the 100-year anniversary of 'The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari', the German Expressionism film that created the visual and thematic template for the modern horror movie.
And I think it is very fitting that three films up for Best Picture at the Academy Awards this year were horror films in disguise.
Join me as I show how three very different films carry the Caligari DNA and continue to expand the language of the modern horror film.
Episode 092-Death by Convenience: Part Two
Welcome to Part Two of my post-mortem on 2010-2019, the Decade of Dread!
Was 2010 to 2019 an embarrassment of riches, or just an embarrassment?
The honest answer is…BOTH.
In Part Two, I investigate the dark side of the geek and horror culture throughout the decade.
I’ll close out Part Two with the list of my favorite horror movies from the years 2016-2019 and discuss what movie I feel defined the decade. It’s bound to be controversial!
Episode 091-Death by Convenience: Part One
There were huge changes in the world of entertainment in the years 2010 to 2019 and the horror genre was right in the middle of it all.
Join me as I take a 2-part deep dive into "the State of Horror" as we move towards a new decade. I look at the good trends and the bad ones and give my opinion of who was the most influential filmmaker in horror from 2010-2019, and what movie I feel defined the decade. It's bound to be controversial!

Each episode is a peek into another world, full of new strings to pull on and new films to see. S. A. Bradley loves what he does and it shows. Thanks for the original insights, ideas, and the time put in to this gem of a podcast!
Fantastic horror movie podcast
Hellbent for Horror is my favorite movie or horror podcast, and I’ve listened to a lot of others. The host is a genuine fan, and that comes through in every episode. Everything is professionally done. The guy’s not pushing any agendas, other than celebrating horror, and he makes any listener feel like an accepted part of horror fandom. Great stuff!
My New Favorite Podcast
Hellbent for Horror is my latest obsession. After discovering the podcast a couple weeks ago, I’ve now listened to dozens of episodes. S.A. Bradley’s unique brand of horror evangelism makes him a treasure to the genre and a joy to the lister. Each episode of the show is smart, insightful, and helps you discover new books to read, new movies to watch, and new avenues to explore. In fact, I love this podcast so much that I’m dreading the rapidly approaching day when I won’t have any unheard back episodes left and I will have to wait patiently for new episodes to post. In the meantime, I’ll keep devouring each episode with enthusiasm, keep digging deeper into previously unknown regions of the genre, and I’ll for sure stay hellbent!
