Why we drift and how we can reset to get back on track

Join me in a Fall Reset! 🍂 Click here for the resources to join me! :) If some of your good habits slipped over the summer, you’re not alone. This is our opportunity to get back on track together—not with an extreme plan or a long list of new goals, but by recommitting to the simple things we already know matter. In this episode, we’re talking about why structure can make self-discipline easier, how easily we can drift out of good habits, and why getting back on track begins with preparation—deciding ahead of time what matters and creating a structure that helps us follow through. We’ll also take an honest look at where we may have drifted. Maybe it’s exercise or eating well. Maybe our time in the Word has become inconsistent. Maybe our schedules feel chaotic, or we’ve simply stopped making progress toward something that matters to us. We don’t need to fix everything at once. We can simply decide that we’re ready to be intentional again. This episode kicks off our Fall Reset, and in the next episode we’ll get practical with the daily and weekly practices we’re committing to from September through November. Ready to join me? The Most Spiritual Thing You Can Do When You're Burned Out

How is your spiritual life really going? Most of us answer that question by looking at our devotional checklist — did I pray today, did I read my Bible, did I make it to church. But what if that's not the best way to measure it? What if your spiritual life isn't about what you do — but about who you're becoming? In this episode, we look at a better way to gauge the health of your soul: the growth of the fruit of the Spirit in every area of your life — your relationships, your work, your mind, and yes, your body and your health. But here's the honest part. Sometimes, when we ask ourselves how we're really doing, the answer is not great. Sometimes we're discouraged. Worn down. Irritable. Ready to give up. If that's where you are, this episode is for you. We'll look at a moment in Scripture where one of God's faithful servants hit complete burnout — and the surprising, deeply practical way God met him there. It's not what you might expect. And it just might change the way you think about caring for yourself, body and soul. Because sometimes the most spiritual thing you can do is also the most practical one. 🎧 Listen wherever you get your podcasts. 🤍 If this episode encouraged you, share it with a friend who needs it — and follow Honoring My Temple so you don't miss what's next. The Prayer to Pray When You Can’t Stop Reaching for Food

Do you ever pray about your eating? Your habits? The pull toward food when you know you're not really hungry? So many of us pray about our marriages, our kids, our finances — but quietly believe our eating, our cravings, and our body image are too small or too vain to bring before God. They aren't. Your habits shape who you're becoming. And the person God is forming in you is being shaped, breath by breath, choice by choice, in the small moments no one sees. In this episode of Honoring My Temple, I'm sharing a prayer a friend gave me — a beautiful, simple prayer for self-control that you can save, screenshot, and come back to again and again. I'm also walking you through how to use breath prayers in the moments you need God most — when stress hits, when comparison creeps in, when you're standing in front of the pantry at 9pm and you know you're not actually hungry. Inside this episode: Why your eating, your habits, and your self-discipline matter to GodA powerful prayer for self-control (saved at the bottom of these notes)What breath prayers are and why they're a beautiful tool for in-the-moment temptationHow to identify what you're really feeling — and how to choose a prayer that meets you thereWhy prayer and action go together (and what to do when the pull hits hard)The kind of person God is forming in you — one breath, one choice, one redirection at a timeIf you've ever felt ruled by food, or stuck in a cycle of stress eating and comfort eating, this episode is for you. You are more capable than you think — because He is with you. 🤍 SAVE THIS PRAYER Heavenly Father, develop the fruit of self-control in my life. I know self-control comes not from within me, but from the Holy Spirit at work in me. Continue to build more self-control into my life. Rather than resist or self-sabotage, help me desire to have more structure, commitment, and dedication with my food and exercise choices. Come, Holy Spirit. Amen. You Are Closer Than You Think: Don't Quit Before the Breakthrough

You Are Closer Than You Think: Don't Quit Before the Breakthrough Have you ever felt stuck in your health journey — like no matter how hard you try, you keep falling back into the same habits, the same struggles, the same frustration? Like the goal you're working toward keeps slipping further out of reach? In this episode, Kelly opens up about the moments we most want to give up — and why those moments are often closer to breakthrough than they feel. We'll talk about: Why most people don't need more knowledge — they need character transformation The difference between justification and sanctification, and why it matters for your daily habits What Philippians 1:6 actually promises about the work God is doing in you Why discipline is slow, steady work — and why that's a good thing How the enemy uses discouragement to pull you out of the water right before you reach the shore What changes when you stop swimming alone If you've been tempted to quit on a goal, a habit, or a healthier way of living, this episode is your reminder that you are equipped, you are not alone, and you may be far closer to the breakthrough than you can see.
