As a stage 3 Cancer thriver and 4 years out; Joni is married to Chuck Watkins stage 4 thriver… also 4 years out. They are huge fans of HealingStrong, as this ministry was instrumental in getting them to a safe landing place. Nahum 1:7-9. 


Professionally, Joni is employed at Northside Hospital Atlanta, as a case manager and as a certified nutritionist. Joni incorporates nutritional advice with her care coordination role. 


Chuck and Joni are currently enrolled in Bible College and plan to be in full time ministry within the next two years. 


It is Joni’s belief that one of the best barometers of a well-lived life, is the ability to hit the pillow and sleep like a baby. So, Joni loves to talk about restorative sleep. It is one of her greatest passions for living and HealingStrong! She also authored the book, Nurse, Nurse, I’m Worse! Can You Help Me Sleep?

Holle is a HealingStrong friend and currently a therapeutic instructor. Holle was integral in helping shape the structure of HealingStrong, which in part, helps in guiding group leaders with policies, procedures and processes. She came into therapeutic movement through the GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM® in 2005 with an injury. Beginning a GYROTONIC® apprenticeship at Body-n-Balance in Alpharetta, Georgia, she began to teach while rehabilitating her shoulder.⁣


She is certified as a Gyrokinesis instructor and a Pre-Trainer authorized to teach students beginning on their own path to instructorship.   ⁣


Holle attended her first therapeutic course with Paul Horvath and Uwe Herbstreit in 2007, and the direction of her work refined towards holistic, comprehensive resolution of bio-mechanical pain patterns.  In working with people struggling through chronic pain, she recognized a frequent connection to situations of stress and backgrounds of trauma. Combining the beauty of art and nature, the kinship of supportive people, and the empowerment of movement, she started facilitating retreats for women to restore hope and foster healing.⁣


To more fully help people bridge the divide between movement potential and current restrictions, Holle gained her licensed massage therapist designation in 2020, and shortly after began personal mentorship under 5 time Olympic team massage therapist Benny Vaughn.

Gayle is a new HealingStrong Group Leader for Kentucky and a breast cancer thriver! In July of 2019, she was blindsided with an invasive ductal carcinoma diagnosis. She had known for years that if she was to ever be diagnosed with cancer, she would not do the conventional chemotherapy, radiation, surgery. She had heard about alternative treatments when her mom was going through a cancer journey in 2015, so after her own diagnosis, she decided to spend time in prayer and get direction from the Lord, so the first week after my diagnosis that is what she did. No research, just time in God’s Word and in prayer while spending time with her family on vacation. She rewatched a cancer series, where she heard about Chris Wark, and from Chris Wark, heard about HealingStrong. She got on the HealingStrong website and searched for a group and knew this was an organization that she would be connected with for years. What Gayle loves about HealingStrong is the community and the individual relationships. It’s a place where you know you can trust being heard and understood without criticism. Gayle says, “We all have a different journey to walk through, and the goal is to get all the information we can and seek God for the direction we need for our individual healing.”

Rob and Rachel are group leaders in the HealingStrong community!  After Rob became a stage 4 prostate cancer thriver, they heard about HealingStrong and knew this is where God has led them to serve. Deciding to treat Rob's cancer without surgery, radiation, or chemotherapy turned Rob's cancer journey into their new hobby! Learning about holistic therapies, diet changes, fasting, and following God's direction, gave Rob the miracle healing of no evidence of disease in 2021. This healing has given them purpose and the opportunity to make sure others know about the HealingStrong community and that they are not alone. Rachel loves sharing how important diet changes can help in any disease diagnosis, time-saving-tips for juicing, meal prepping, and batch cooking!

In October of 2013, Betty received a diagnosis of Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia.  Her diagnosis was Watch and Wait or Stage 0, so the doctor was not threatening me with treatments. Her doctor did say, he expected Betty to need treatment in 8 years - in 2021. Betty took that as a challenge to prove him wrong!  In 2021 and still today, her numbers are the same as they were upon diagnosis.


God had been leading Betty to watch things like Forks over Knives, Dr. Fuhrman’s Eat to Live on PBS and Super Juice Me a year before her diagnosis. She had been experimenting with vegan meals and in May 2013 had stopped eating sugar based on what she had been learning.  When she received her diagnosis, she knew that she had to change her diet, which she states gave her peace and comfort, in having this control over her situation and in fact, helped her better handle her diagnosis. She then studied everything she could get her hands on.


Betty was a HealingStrong group leader in Albuquerque starting in 2018 until she moved to Colorado in 2021. She co-led a group in Colorado Springs that she is now, the full-time group leader of.
