    Robert C. Cottrell is a writer with eclectic interests.  Robert has written numerous books on topics ranging from American radicalism, the 1960s, and the counterculture to baseball, WWII-era conscientious objectors, and popular culture.  His most recent work, The Heyday of Willie, Duke, and Mickey: New York City Baseball's Golden Age Amid Integration, involves a dissection of the ascent and descent of the New York baseball dynasty, with a close look at the New York Giants, the Brooklyn Dodgers, and the New York Yankees. That also involves an emphasis on those teams’ star center fielders, Willie Mays, Duke Snider, and Mickey Mantle, as well as the shift of the Giants and the Dodgers to the West Coast. Woven throughout the book is an analysis of America race relations within and beyond the national pastime.     NYS Halls of Fame Welcomes Steve Janaszak of the “Miracle on Ice” Gold Medal Team

    This week we welcome Steve Janaszak, former goaltender and member of the legendary 1980 U.S. Olympic “Miracle on Ice” gold medal-winning hockey team.  Steve is being inducted into the New York State Hockey Hall of Fame. Steve shares stories from his hockey journey, including his time starring at the University of Minnesota, where he helped lead the Golden Gophers to two NCAA Championships.  He reflects on what it was like being part of one of the greatest moments in sports history at the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, New York Steve discusses many things including, the atmosphere surrounding the “Miracle on Ice,” playing under head coach Herb Brooks, and the camaraderie of the 1980 Olympic team.  We also talk about the lasting impact of the Miracle on Ice team more than four decades later and why the story continues to resonate with sports fans everywhere.  It is a memorable conversation with a player connected to one of the most iconic moments in sports history.     Remembering Gary Carter: An Intimate Conversation with His Family | Plus: Feeding Thousands with Pastor Jordan Davis

    Sandy Carter is the widow of the late Baseball Hall of Famer, Gary Carter.  Christy, Kimmy, and D.J. are her and Gary's children.  Gary's 19 year Major League Baseball career was spent primarily with the Montreal Expos and New York Mets.  He was nicknamed, The Kid and was named an All-Star 11 times and was an essential member of the 1986 World Series champion Mets.  In May 2011, Gary was diagnosed with a brain tumor and less than a year later he passed away at the age of 57.  His statistics and intense play on the baseball field were more than enough to gain him entrance into the National Baseball Hall of Fame.  But Gary was so much more than that and who better to tell about this great man than his wife and children who knew him as much more than a great baseball player; they knew him as a great husband, father, and human being.  They share personal stories, cherished memories, and a side of "The Kid" that fans never got to see on the baseball field.  It is a beautiful tribute to a man who left a lasting mark on and off the diamond.    Jordan Davis aka Pastor Jordan is using his love of cooking barbecue to help people.  He founded The Smoking Pastor Project along with his wife, Kati, and as per their website, "At The Smoking Pastor Project, we believe a good meal does more than fill a stomach — it feeds the soul."  "Jordan considers barbecue as more than a hobby.     Paul Mound: Dedicated and Successful Baseball Coach and New York State Baseball Hall of Fame Member

    Paul Mound is a member of the New York State Baseball Hall of Fame, having been inducted in the Class of 2017.  He is the Head Baseball Coach at SUNY Adirondack.  Paul previously served as Head Coach at Union College, where he became the all-time wins leader in the program's history.  During his tenure, he built one of the most successful programs in the school's history, leading the team to multiple Liberty League Championships, NCAA Regional appearances, and several record-breaking seasons.  Paul has been committed to not only winning on the field but also shaping well-rounded athletes. He has worked with players of all ages, from high school to collegiate athletes, and his focus has always been on player development, discipline, and instilling a love for the game. One of his notable achievements is mentoring Jake Fishman, who went on to be drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays and later played for the Miami Marlins. In addition to his college coaching experience, Paul founded, owns, and operates the Saratoga Stampede summer baseball program.  Celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2025, the Stampede currently has 14 teams and over 180 players.     Ken Davidoff, Co-author of 101 Lessons From The Dugout and Kelly Kammann from Kelly Belly BBQ

    Ken Davidoff has been covering Major League Baseball for 30 years. He served as a baseball columnist at the New York Post from 2012 through 2022.  Prior to joining The Post, Ken wrote about baseball for Newsday and The Record. He has appeared on ESPN, the MLB Network, YES Network, CNN, and others. A former president of the Baseball Writers Association of America, Ken now works as an adjunct professor at Endicott College in Beverly, Mass., teaching various journalism and writing courses.  His latest project is the book, 101 Lessons From The Dugout:  What Baseball And Softball Can Teach Us About The Game Of Life, which he co-wrote with Harley A.
