Are you playing it safe with your faith? Episode 290

Most men know what it’s like to stand at a fork in the road. One path is comfortable. The other requires faith. Maybe it’s a conversation with your wife, reconnecting with your kids, asking forgiveness, or stepping into something God has been putting on your heart for years. Brad Fogarty is back on the Known Legacy Podcast. He’s a TV producer, an adoptive dad, and a man who has spent nearly 30 years following God’s lead from one assignment to the next. Bill and Travis talk with Brad about the difference between being comfortable and being persuaded (2 Timothy 1:12). They also cover why “movers get mercy and sitters get silence,” and why it’s never too late to start trusting God fully, even at 54. Brad explains why God’s will isn’t summed up in your job title (1 Thessalonians 5:16–18), why success is really about how many people would miss you, and how one question flipped his loneliness: “Who have I left lonely?” He also speaks directly to men hiding addiction or secret sin. You are never alone. If you’ve been waiting on God to tell you something, this episode will help you turn your blinker on and take the next step. When your grown kids make choices you disagree with - Episode 289

Your adult son walked away from church. Your daughter moved in with her boyfriend. Your kid stopped answering your texts. And you’re lying awake asking, “What did I do wrong?” This week, Jim Burns, president of HomeWord and author of Doing Life with Your Adult Children and When Your Adult Child Strays, joins Bill and Travis for an honest, practical conversation about loving your kids when they make choices you disagree with. Jim explains why good parents still have kids who make poor choices, the mistakes well-meaning parents make that push their kids further away, what the father of the prodigal son teaches us about tough love, and why you can’t walk through this season without a circle of support around you. Travis also shares the breakthrough that rebuilt his relationship with his own daughter. If you’re a dad carrying the weight of a wandering kid, this one’s for you. Don’t lose hope. Stay in their story. Wake Up. Gear Up. Come Alive. How to Find a Brotherhood When You Don't Have One - Episode 288

What do you do when someone asks who you'd bring on the trip of a lifetime — and you realize you don't have a guy? Bill and Travis tackle the growing epidemic of male isolation with something rare: an actual step-by-step plan. Drawing from Known Legacy's own survey of 125 men — where 119 said they want deeper male relationships — they walk through exactly how to start: pray for 4-5 guys, find a simple way to connect (even just a group text), invite them to coffee with no agenda, and eventually get them around a "campfire" to talk about faith. The best part? You don't need to be a Bible scholar to do it. You just need to be willing to go first. Wake Up. Gear Up. Come Alive. How to know what God wants you to do next - Episode 287

Ever wrestled with the question, "How do I know what God wants me to do?" Bill and Travis dig into why most of us are secretly waiting on a burning-bush moment — and why that's the wrong way to think about God's will. They unpack the difference between seeing life as fixed railroad tracks versus a playground with boundaries, why God cares more about who you're becoming than what you're doing, and how the simple act of praying "God, I want the next step to be in You" changes everything. If you're stuck, frozen, or afraid of making the wrong career or life decision — this episode is for you. Wake Up. Gear Up. Come Alive. Stop Waiting for the Friend You Want — Be Him - Episode 286

Pastor Rory Lawrence of the Dangerous Man Podcast joins Bill and Travis to talk about the epidemic of male isolation — and why it's almost always by choice, not circumstance. Rory shares his own journey from isolation to faith through one relentless mentor who "just did life" with him, and unpacks why men bond over doing something together (fixing a fence, building a fire, fishing) far more than sitting across a table talking about feelings. In a study Known Legacy conducted with over 100 men, fewer than 2 in 5 said they have someone in their corner. This episode is a direct challenge: if you don't have a brother, be one. Wake Up. How to Share Your Faith Story With Someone Who Needs It - Episode 285

What happens to faith when a nation gets comfortable? Bill and Travis sit down with Mark Oxer, author of This Is the Way, who moved his family to the Netherlands and discovered a hard truth: comfort doesn't strengthen faith — it drifts it. In this episode, Mark unpacks the difference between builders, maintainers, and squanderers, why every generation is one decision away from losing what the last one fought for, and why a father's faith is the single biggest predictor of whether his kids stay in the church. This one will challenge you to stop coasting and start building — in your home, your community, and wherever God has planted you. Wake Up. Gear Up. Come Alive. What if everything you're failing at is exactly where God wants you? Episode 284

Bill Spencer didn't set out to build a discipleship ministry. It started with a homeless man with cerebral palsy, a suicidal 19-year-old, and a heroin addict who all ended up living in his house. Sixteen years later, Narrow Gate has walked 650+ men through the question every guy is really asking: who am I, and why am I here? In part two of this conversation, Bill unpacks the real cost of a culture built on facades, why psychological safety is nearly extinct in the American workplace, and a reframe on the prodigal son that will change how you think about your own wandering kids. This one will wreck you in the best way.  Connect with Bill Spencer & Narrow Gate: https://narrowgate.org/ Connect with Known Legacy: info@knownlegacy.org Get your own Wake up Guide and seven day reset: https://mailchi.mp/knownlegacy/the-wake-up-guide ️Join our weekly mens study - Adrenaline Shot - every Thursday morning at 6:45 am Central. https://soldiersforfaith.com/bible_study/soldiers-adrenaline-shot/ Join the Brotherhood on Facebook! https://www.facebook.com/share/g/ If this episode challenged you, share it with a man who needs to hear it. Who Told You Who You Are? ft. Bill Spencer (Narrow Gate) Episode 283

Most men are living off a definition of themselves that someone else handed them — and they've never stopped to ask where it came from. In this episode, Bill and Travis sit down with Bill Spencer, founder of Narrow Gate Ministries, for a raw and unfiltered conversation about identity, grace, and what happens when a man finally stops trying to earn what's already his. Bill Spencer shares his story — from a childhood shaped by poverty and instability, to years chasing legalism in a high-control religious group, to getting "tricked" into a church service that cracked him wide open. What follows is one of the most honest conversations we've had about the difference between working for God's approval and resting in what Christ has already done. You'll walk away from this one asking a different question about your own life: Who told you who you are — and is it actually true? In this episode: * Why so many churches quietly turn grace into a performance system * The strange (and hilarious) illustration that reframes how you see other people * What Genesis 3 reveals about the first lie ever told to a man * Why rules were never meant to be the point of your faith * How to stop striving to live for Christ — and start letting Christ live through you Connect with Bill Spencer & Narrow Gate:https://narrowgate.org/ Connect with Known Legacy: info@knownlegacy.org Follow us on Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube ️ Join our Thursday morning men's group, "The Adrenaline Shot" — 6:45 AM https://soldiersforfaith.com/bible_study/soldiers-adrenaline-shot/ Download the free Wake Up Guide & 7-Day Reset - https://mailchi.mp/knownlegacy/the-wake-up-guide Grab the book "More Than You" — free 10-session study guide available www.morethanyoubook.com Join the Brotherhood on Facebook! https://www.facebook.com/share/g/1EZL78qtya/ If this episode challenged you, share it with a man who needs to hear it.
