Reviews of Midnight Saturn, The Biggleboss Incident, Uncle Lee’s Cookbook & The Quiet Things

In the latest episode of the Adventure Games Podcast Matt Latham finally completes his takeover of the podcast while Seoirse is on holiday enjoying his 40th birthday. Joining him in his takeover is Johnny Nys, the nicest guy in adventure games, as they discuss 4 very different and unique adventure games. First we head into the neon-lit world of Midnight Saturn, where a grizzled private detective investigates a murder that may have an otherworldly connection. Then it’s off to the bizarre corporate world of The Biggleboss Incident, a point-and-click comedy thriller packed with office bureaucracy, conspiracy and fully voiced characters. Next, we sample the wonderfully chaotic Uncle Lee’s Cookbook, a collection of five reality-bending adventures featuring strange inventions, science, magic and plenty of things going spectacularly wrong. Finally, we turn to the much more personal and emotionally challenging The Quiet Things, an autobiographical narrative adventure based on real diary entries and exploring a young girl’s fractured childhood in 00s England. Content note: The Quiet Things deals with difficult themes including childhood abuse, self-harm, suicide and sexual assault.
