Shana tatum https://www.shanatatumrd.com 713.868.4372 hello@shanatatumrd.com  Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/shanatatumrd/ Wellness Collaborative https://wellness-collaborative.com A  104 W. 12th Street, Suite B Houston, TX 77008 Carrot Slaw Recipe Serves 4 as a side dish, 2 as a main dish 1 cup grated carrot 2 cups grated cabbage (red, for more antioxidant power!) 1/3 cup full fat coconut milk 1 tablespoon raw honey 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar 1 tablespoon olive oil 1/4 teaspoon poppy seeds A pinch of salt and pepper, to taste 1 tablespoon Sriracha sauce (optional for some spice) Directions Grate 1 cup carrot. Slice cabbage thinly for 2 cups and combine in a large bowl with carrots. In a smaller mixing bowl, mix coconut milk, honey, apple cider vinegar, olive oil, poppy seeds, salt and pepper to test and add Sriracha if using. Add dressing to slaw mix and toss well. Serve as a side salad to BBQ pulled pork, as a filling for fish tacos, or as a main salad topped with pistachios. Store in a glass container in refrigerator for up to 4 days.     #012 Sleep, Part 2 | The Integration of Sleep Science and Acupuncture with Expert Dr. Tracy Rupp

    Today more research is being done to fully understand the benefits of sleep and the importance of it for maintaining health.  Scientist are discovering that sleep plays a critical role in metabolism, immune function, memory, learning and other vital functions.  In this episode, join Sheri and Candice in an interview with Tracy Rupp a PhD. in Experimental Psychology and acupuncturist.  Her research is focused on sleep and cognitive performance and resilience.  She believes acupuncture offers an opportunity for treating insomnia effectively without the side effects of medications.  EPISODE NOTES Tracy received her Master’s degree in Acupuncture from the Maryland University of Integrative Health (MUIH; formerly Tai Sophia) and her Ph.D in Experimental Psychology from Brown University with a background in sleep research. Tracy continues to be active in research. Tracy believes there is an important balance and role for both Eastern and Western medicine in maintaining health. She uses Evidenced Informed Practice to use relevant research findings to guide treatment in conjunction with ancient theory. She believes that Acupuncture fills a void of Western medicine in treating chronic illness, serving as a preventive medicine and fostering self-care, and especially in treating an individual on a mind, body and spirit level. Her interest in research extends to bridging knowledge from many perspectives and treatment modalities and bring that to her patients. Tracy believes that acupuncture offers an opportunity for healing without the side effects of many medications and for building a foundation for optimal health. ​ As the mother of two young children, Tracy knows the challenge of incorporating self-care in a daily or weekly practice.
