    Art of Dying & Living: The Tibetan Book of the Dead with Robert Thurman

    In this episode Robert A.F. Thurman leads an introduction to his translation of the "Natural Liberation Through Understanding in the Between" known popularly as the "Tibetan Book of the Dead" giving a teaching on the six between states found in everyday life and during the death process. Recorded during the 2022 online conference "The Art of Dying and Living" this talk includes discussions of: the preciousness of human life, the rise and development of the hospice movement in the West, the role of faith in materialistic sciences and thought, and the importance of overcoming fear when facing death.     Real Change with Robert Thurman & Sharon Salzberg

    Reconnecting for the first time since the Covi-19 pandemic began, Sharon Salzberg and Robert Thurman discuss her book “Real Change” and how the tools of mindfulness skill training, Buddhist philosophy and the teachings of the Dalai Lama have influenced them over the years. Opening with stories from the “Peacemaking: The Power of Nonviolence” Conference held in San Francisco in 1997, Sharon details how her time with grassroots activists, front-line health care providers, students, and labor organizers practicing meditation have inspired, informed, and invigorated her.
