Episode 243: Avoiding Ownership is Why You "Think" You're Stuck in Life, Health and Business - with Ethan Linn

What if the reason you’re stuck isn’t about motivation, but instead - it's about the need to take more radical ownership of your situation? In this episode of Empowered in Health, Erin sits down with business mentor and health coach Ethan Linn to unpack the mindset shifts that can change how you approach your health, business, parenting, and everyday life. Ethan shares his journey from in-person health coaching to building a six-figure online business and mentoring other entrepreneurs all while diving into explain why extreme ownership, consistency, data and the willingness to pivot have been so important along the way. One of the biggest takeaways is his “floor and ceiling” framework: instead of expecting yourself to perform perfectly every day, define what you can realistically accomplish on your worst day and use that as your minimum effective dose. We also talk about: • Why taking radical ownership can feel uncomfortable • How a victim mindset can keep you stuck • The mindset shift from scarcity to possibility • Why tracking data matters in both health and business • How to create sustainable habits instead of chasing perfection • The difference between your “floor” and “ceiling” • Time blocking and working to be fully present • Why parents need to prioritize their own health • The importance of giving yourself time to reach your goals • Why “everything in your life is a dichotomy to be managed, not a problem to be solved” • How remaining a student can create more growth and resilience If you're trying to improve your health, grow a business, become a more present parent or need to stop beating yourself up when things don't go according to plan - this conversation offers practical frameworks you can start using immediately. Episode 242: Health Beyond the 60 Minute Workout - The Other 23 Hours Matter!

If you’re working out consistently but you're still not seeing the results you want - the problem may not be your workout... In this episode, I break down the “other 23 hours” of the day. Because the time outside your workout plays a major role in your health, recovery, body composition, energy and overall wellness! For many women, especially as you move through midlife, the old approach of simply working harder and exercising more no longer works - at all! That's why it's so important to remember that the workout is only one piece of the bigger picture. Today, we explore how everyday movement, nutrition, sleep, stress, recovery, hydration, relationships and daily habits all work together as an interconnected health ecosystem - just like the body itself. One transformative concept you can use when evaluating your health is the 23-Hour Audit - where you ask yourself: How much am I moving outside my workout? How much am I sitting? Am I eating enough protein and fiber? Am I adequately hydrated? Am I getting enough sleep and recovery? How am I managing stress? Do I have boundaries? Am I making time for relationships, joy, and connection? Your health isn't only built in 60 minutes at the gym or during a workout at home. It's built by what you repeatedly do throughout the entire day. If this episode resonated with you, please subscribe and leave a review on your favorite podcast platform. Episode 241: The Invisible Load of Being the Primary Caregiver - with Dr. Lisa Muehlenbein

Are you exhausted from constantly taking care of everyone else while putting your own needs on the back burner? In this powerful episode of Empowered in Health, Erin sits down with Dr. Lisa Muehlenbein. Dr. Lisa is a nationally recognized expert on physician burnout, helping both medical families and healthcare organizations foster resilience, connection, and aculture of well-being through her MedLife Matrix™ methodology. In our conversation, we talk about midlife burnout, the invisible load women carry, the importance of self-care, marriage, relationships and what really happens when your own needs are continually pushed aside! Lisa also shares her deeply personal journey of realizing that she was burned out - even when she didn't recognize it herself. Her experience led her to study burnout and eventually research how professional burnout can affect spouses, families, and relationships - especially for physician families. Lisa teaches us incredible lessons that apply to so many women who feel like they are carrying the emotional weight of their families. If you've ever thought: • "I'll take care of myself when things calm down." • "Everyone else needs me more than I need me." • "I don't have the right to complain." • "Life will be better when the kids are older." • "I'll have time for myself someday." This conversation is for you. Lisa introduces the idea of "Someday Syndrome" - the belief that life will finally get better after the next milestone, only to discover that "someday" keeps moving further away. You'll also hear why the invisible load can create loneliness, resentment, emotional exhaustion and disconnection in relationships. And why communication is essential for reconnecting with your partner! If you're a woman navigating midlife, motherhood, marriage, burnout, or the overwhelming responsibility of caring for everyone else, this episode is a reminder that your needs matter too. You don't have to wait for someday to start taking care of yourself. Episode 240: It's NOT Food Sensitivities; Understanding the Gut–Immune Connection

In midlife, many women find themselves dealing with bloating, inflammation, fatigue, weight gain, food reactions, skin flare-ups and a growing list of foods they feel they can no longer eat. But what if these symptoms aren't just "food sensitivities"? But rather, signals of something deeper? In this episode, we dive into the gut-immune connection and why understanding the relationship between your gut, immune system, hormones, stress, sleep, nutrition and environment can completely change the way you approach your health. Personally, I reached a point in my late 30s where my body seemed to start reacting to almost everything. From severe bloating, skin reactions, inflammation, food sensitivities and significant weight gain, I learned FAST that simply eliminating foods wasn't addressing what was happening underneath the hood - at all. The bigger question for me became: "WHY is the body reacting this way?" This episode explores the idea of looking at the body as an interconnected ecosystem and addressing the underlying “terrain.” You'll learn why gut health and immune function are so closely connected, what can contribute to gut dysfunction and why stress, blood sugar, sleep, lifestyle, environmental exposure, HISTORY and midlife hormonal changes can all be part of the bigger picture. Most importantly, this episode offers a different perspective for women who feel like their bodies have suddenly become unpredictable. Remember - the goal isn't to simply manage symptoms. It's to understand the “why,” support the body's ecosystem and build greater resilience from the inside out. If you've been cutting out more and more foods and dealing with all kinds of random "allergies" or environmental triggers, but still don't understand why your body is reacting, this conversation is for you! Episode 237: Your Hormones Are Not The Real Problem - with Becca Chilczenkowski

For years, women have been told the answer is simple: Eat less. Exercise more. But what if that's exactly what's keeping you stuck? In this episode of Empowered in Health, Erin sits down with hormone expert Becca Chilczenkowski, co-founder of FitMom, to unpack why so many women in midlife experience stubborn weight gain, fatigue, bloating, poor sleep, hormone imbalances, digestive issues and burnout - even when they're doing everything "right." Becca shares her own journey from Elite CrossFit Athlete to functional health practitioner after years of overtraining, under-fueling, losing her menstrual cycle, struggling with fertility, and ultimately discovering that hormones are only one piece of a much bigger picture.  Together, we explain why: • Hormones aren't the root cause. • Chronic stress changes how your body responds. • Under-eating can drastically slow progress. • Overtraining can leave you inflamed instead of fit. • Digestion, sleep, nutrition, liver health and your environment all influence your hormones. • Healing requires creating safety - not more restriction. If you've been frustrated that your body no longer responds the way it used to, this conversation will help you understand what's really happening and where to begin. 🔗 Connect more with Becca here: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thehormonequeen/ Website: https://fitmom.co/ Listen to full episode on YOUTUBE here: If this episode resonated with you, please subscribe and leave a review on your favorite podcast platform. She opens up about the mindset shifts that helped her stop chasing certainty and releasing the pressure to have everything figured out. If you've been waiting until you feel confident, prepared or "ready," this conversation is your reminder that confidence isn't where the journey begins - it's what grows as you keep saying yes to what God is leading you towards.
