Ep 28. What Happened While I Was Away

It’s been a year and a half since I’ve said, “Welcome to Beyond the Resume.” Beyond the Resume started from a place of obedience. But somewhere along the way, I started paying more attention to views, subscribers, analytics, and comparison. I was talking about success being beyond titles, accolades, and accomplishments while beginning to lose sight of the mission myself. I needed to step away and allow God to work on my heart. I had to confront some things about ambition, pride, comparison, and why I was doing this in the first place. But while I was away, life also changed in a way I could have never anticipated. My wife and I lost our firstborn, our son, Caleb. Even writing that is hard. I truthfully miss him every day. I’m still learning what it means to carry grief and maneuver through a life that looks different than it did before. I don’t have all the language for it yet, and I’m not trying to pretend that I do. That experience has also made me think more deeply about identity. Not just identity beyond a job title, but identity as a husband, father, professional, entrepreneur, and follower of Christ. What does it really mean to keep Jesus at the center of all of it? That’s where I’m returning to Beyond the Resume. The mission hasn’t changed. But after everything that has happened while I’ve been away, I understand the calling and the need a little differently now. In this episode, I discuss: • Why I originally stepped away from Beyond the Resume• What I had to confront about comparison, pride, and selfish ambition• Losing my son, Caleb, and learning what it means to carry grief• How my understanding of identity has expanded beyond careers and titles• Identity across faith, marriage, fatherhood, work, and calling• Returning without trying to control how the platform grows The mission is the same. I just understand the calling and the need a little more now. Scripture referenced: Genesis 1:26 (context: Genesis 1:26–28)

Ep 25. How to set your goals in 2024 | Don't build distractions.

Welcome to another episode of Beyond the Resume. Today we are pulling from the book of Life, chapter 2024 Visions. Before you break out those vision board kits consisting of scissors, magazines, glue sticks, and the white 12 X 12 cardboard piece, let's ensure we are focusing on the right thing. Over the years I've learned firsthand the difference between being influenced and inspired. Inspiration typically drives me to dive deeper into my endeavors. However, influences tend to pull me away and cause distractions. As we embark on 2024 and build out our 2024 goals and aspirations, let's make sure we are following these 2 principles: Goals are relevant to you and your journey. Before even putting together goals, you have to understand what is fueling them. Are they coming from a place of sincerity or are they based on what your friends or social media time line is telling you? - - - - - Who is Patrick Croffie? Ep 23. Finding the Speed of Peace

This week's conversation is from the Book of Life, and I am pulling from the chapter "How to be focused aka God's cheat code for productivity". In recent weeks, I made a very tough decision to hyper-focus on one part of Beyond the Resume. At one point, I was trying to build everything in a day but grew more frustrated as I headed down that path. One of my gifts is that I am hardworking and anything I focus on, I typically see it through. Whether it was earning my master’s in 18 months while taking care of a family of 4, moonlighting as a realtor and getting my first transaction within months while working my engineering job, pledging my fraternity Alpha Phi Alpha during my undergrad years, and so on - I typically accomplish what I put my mind to.  However, this last season taught me a few things about not relying on my natural abilities. This season I have learned a deeper meaning of not leaning on our understanding and how we can create false idols aka big egos. Now I understand what it means to go at the speed of peace. It is better to focus on one thing and hear the words well done, versus work on 5 things and never meet the finish line. - - - - Who is Patrick Croffie? Ep 22. " Why do you call to me? Just move!"

In today's episode, I want to remind you that you possess everything you need to move into the next season but there are things we must shed.  We must shed fear.   We need to understand the perfect will of God is already in works and there is nothing we need more. And lastly, we need to know we do not need permission to move forward. --- One of my favorite coaching moments in the Bible is between God and Moses. In Exodus chapter 14: 15, Moses for a split second forgot about all the power God equipped him with. In this scene, Moses is stuck between the Egyptians who are looking to harm the people of Israel, and the Red Sea. As the Egyptians are approaching, Moses turns to the sky and calls on God.  But in this moment God didn’t respond with "my faithful servant" or "my most devoted", he responded with a question and command " Why are you crying out to me? Tell the Israelites to move on." ---- Like Moses, I believe God is telling many of us to Just Move!   There is a season for fasting and praying, and there is a season for action. I believe many of us are in the season for action but are waiting for permission. I submit to you that this next season is Green Light Season. Just move until God says otherwise.  ---- Scriptures mentioned 2 Timothy 1:7, God doesn’t give you the spirit of fear. Exodus 14:15, Why are you crying out to me? Tell the Israelites to move on. James 1: 6-8, 6 But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. 7 That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. 8 Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do. ---- For More Dope Podcasts: Check out our projects on www.manna365.co - - - - - - - Follow the socials: IG: @beyondtheresume.pod Tik Tok: @beyondtheresume.pod YouTube: @beyondtheresume.pod  --- #ChristianEntrepreneurship #Businessideas #beyondtheresumepodcast #patrickcroffie #Entrepreneurialtips #ChristianContent #ChristianpPodcast
