The investigation into the murder of six-year-old JonBenét Ramsey continues in Part Two of our deep dive into one of the most infamous unsolved true crime cases in history. In this episode of Killers, Cults & Queens, Nikki and Cheryl return to Boulder, Colorado, in the aftermath of JonBenét's murder on Boxing Day 1996. What should have been a straightforward investigation into a kidnapping quickly became a murder investigation — but the crime scene had already been seriously compromised. We look at the Ramsey family, the backgrounds of John, Patsy and Burke Ramsey, and the events surrounding the discovery of JonBenét's body. We also examine the ransom note found inside the family home, including the bizarre $118,000 demand that matched John Ramsey's Christmas bonus, and why investigators questioned whether it was really written by a kidnapper. We also delve into JonBenét Ramsey's autopsy findings, the clothing and DNA evidence, the fibres discovered on the duct tape, the mysterious pineapple found in her stomach, and the problems created when family members, friends and police moved around the house before the crime scene could be properly secured. With the evidence seemingly pointing in different directions, investigators were left facing two competing possibilities: was JonBenét killed by someone inside the Ramsey family, or was there an intruder who entered the house that night? And as the investigation develops, the Ramsey family find themselves increasingly at the centre of suspicion while continuing to insist that an intruder was responsible.
