teaching yoga & overcoming imposter syndrome

If you want more confidence, and to be less self-critical, and to care less about how you are perceived and if you are “good enough” in the eyes of others, this episode is for you. If you have ever struggled with habitual fears of being an imposter, of letting yourself down, or of secretly worrying that deep down you are not good enough, this episode is for you. If you have been scarred by a very critical environment or harsh feedback and can’t stop thinking about it long enough to try again, this episode is for you, dear listener.  This episode is about the lie that is the general use of the term imposter syndrome, and how we can classify it into two types: rightful imposter syndrome, and habitual psychological imposter syndrome. And from there, this episode gives you something to chew on, and tangible steps to take to overcome “imposter syndrome” and change the way you think about it forever.  This episode is created specifically for yoga teachers and creatives. My people. I love y’all. :)  Patreon: Leadership and Yoga CLUB. the yoga of numbers: 3 steps when metrics don’t match your vision

This episode feels like a confession of how yoga and my relationship to numbers go together: social media numbers, financial numbers.. All of it. The yoga of numbers episode is a 3rd path, that doesn’t involve falling prey or victim to numbers, but rather facing them with awareness. Where we don’t numbly consider the numbers without considering the names, but you are also dreaming of sharing your message with the world.  Links:  Join my PATREON, Leadership and Yoga Club: https://www.patreon.com/cw/shawnakru  Find me on instagram - @shawnakru - https://www.instagram.com/shawnakru/  Yoga Trade GIVEAWAY: https://join.yogatrade.com/giveaway (my sponsor) / TEND ayurvedic consultations: https://www.tend.eco/collections/consultations (my sponsor) Just B pottery: https://www.instagram.com/just_b_pottery/  Time stamps: 00:00 yoga poetry: names over numbers 01:00 my growth “numbers” journey  05:30 cartoon 06:38 just B and Rishi tea 09:40 “100 likes” wish 1 year ago 11:14 Sri Dharma Mittra’s 1 student story 14:00 arbitrary number requirements i fall short of  17:00 where to find God by Jeff Foster 19:45 fear vs love & hiding likes  22:00 first journaling prompt: flush out the fear 23:50 when i felt worthless  28:30 i’m not counting poetry 30:50 my recent “success” 34:00 the panic of numbers not matching our vision 36:00 GIVEAWAY: Yoga Trade 37:00 TEND 38:50 step 1: mapping your mission 44:30 step 2: get real, look at your output 49:40 step 3: be the person who… 55:37 without falling prey or victim to numbers Key words: yoga teacher tips, how to grow a yoga instagram, social media for yoga teachers, yoga career advice, yoga podcast, shawnakru, sri dharma mittra, jeff foster poetry, mindset for creatives, organic social media growth, small creators under 10k.

Poranguí on Serving the Music and the Yoga of Sound

Today on the Leadership and Yoga podcast, I talk with Poranguí about the power of music to heal, awaken, and reconnect us to ourselves. In this episode, Poranguí shares what it feels like to improvise music in front of thousands of people with no set plan, trusting whatever wants to come through in the moment. We talk ritual, creativity, flow states, consciousness, ancestors, collective human connection, nervous system regulation, coherence as leaders, and music as medicine. Poranguí reminds us that interbeing is how we find meaning in life, and he leads by example. This is what the yoga of sound really means. If music has ever made you feel something beyond words, this episode is for you. After going deep in the yoga, we find that yoga is so much more than poses, identity, or surface-level spiritual aesthetics. In this episode, I share part one of 10 lessons I have learned from going deep with yoga: let’s talk spiritual materialism, devotion, creativity, stress, self-awareness, and what it really means to live yoga beyond the mat. We talk about why yoga practice is the boat, not the destination and how practice can become prayer, why discomfort creates freedom, and how real yoga changes the way we relate to every moment of life.
