    Knock Knock Eye: My Official Medical Comedy Ladder

    I saw a video from a dermatology resident asking people to stop making fun of dermatologists… and it got me thinking. Why do certain specialties get roasted more than others? So in this episode, I present something I’ve been mentally building for years: the medical comedy ladder. A hierarchy that explains who can make fun of who in medicine without accidentally starting a professional civil war. Using three highly scientific criteria—ego, respect, and compensation, I rank specialties from the bottom of the comedy ladder to the very top. Along the way we talk about why primary care is the universal donor of medical jokes, why cardiologists have surgeon energy, and why dermatology might just be the safest target in medicine. And yes… neurosurgeons are exactly where you think they are. Takeaways: The three surprisingly simple factors that determine where a specialty lands on the medical comedy ladder.     Glauc Talk: Why Is My Dog Having Seizures?

    This episode starts with TikTok’s updated Terms of Service, specifically the part where apps want to know where you are at all times, and quickly spirals into a much bigger question: did we accidentally sign up for the surveillance state… or was it always inevitable? Kristin and I debate privacy, inevitability, pessimism, preparedness, and whether refusing to participate actually protects you, or just makes life harder. Somewhere in there, we revisit COVID lockdown memories, the great toilet paper shortage, and why Kristin still believes in go-bags… everywhere. Then things get personal. We talk about Milo, our very large, very inbred standard poodle, and his recurring seizures. I do what every human doctor does best: Google outside my scope, panic quietly, and admit I don’t know what I’m talking about when it comes to dogs.
