This is a great podcast and a breath of fresh air. Maurer’s Substack of the same title is well worth the price and the podcast always has something insightful to say that cuts through a lot of the insane noise we have in today’s media ecosystem. I don’t always agree with Jeff, and that is awesome, because I still come away thinking complex and nuanced thoughts about given topics, and that’s a wonderful feeling.
Moreover, the News and Music from 100 Years Ago is a fantastic hook for each episode, and it helps put into perspective where we are and where we’ve been. I keep thinking about the “Storm Clouds Gathering for WW2” and there are some hints of that… but most of the time it’s just some random French diplomat worried about the debt on a Tuesday in 1926. It’s great!
