This is so impressively researched and well narrated. Jeff’s commitment to provide research and cite historians from all points of view to debate the “controversial” points about John Brown is commendable and makes this quite a deep work of analysis. Jeff’s ease with the material and distillation of the most key points made about John Brown, as well as his description of the scenes and people involved make for interesting listening. Greatly appreciate all the work done to bring this historical moment in a podcast

Heard an ad on [Redacted]History for this podcast. Grew up in NE Kansas so some of this was part of my history classes and I didn’t think I needed to learn more. But I did. Every episode was worth listening to, but the Maritazine Massacre episode broke me. The parallels to today, how the sins of not solving these problems back then are being revisited on us today… I hope to have the strength of Sarah Reed when I need it most because history is most definitely repeating.

Was worried it was going to be amateurish, but quickly realized he was in earnest, and it is well researched. I like that he discusses where he is coming from and his concerns about being able to objectively cover the topic. I really hope he continues. Please do Harriet Tubman next. She is an amazing person and a personal hero of mine.
