Welcome to the first episode of Machiavelli vs Patriarchy. In this series, I decode The Prince, one of the most controversial texts in history, to help women flip the patriarchy on its head. In this episode, I discuss the Machiavellian strategy of why we should never build up another person and apply it to relationship dynamics with men. xoxoxo Neekolo Timestamps: 0:00 Intro 2:22 What Machiavelli says 7:33 Why being in love makes you stupid 11:36 The sneaky way we're socialized 19:46 Why you've been doing too much for men If you get ads at the beginning of this episode, add ~3 minutes to the timestamps Music credit © Chœur des Marais, Villefranche sur Saône, Fr Episodes mentioned: Is falling in love a patriarchal trap? First things first, make sure to watch until the VERY END of the episode...you'll know what I mean. Second of all, the benefit of the doubt is a way we've normalized gaslighting ourselves. We dismiss our intuition, which patriarchy deems un-empirical and unreliable, and give people chances they don't deserve. Patriarchy fetishizes youth and disdains aging. On top of that, it also functions based on zero-sum thinking: that for you to succeed, someone else has to lose. Although these sound like a load of baloney, we're all mirroring these patriarchal mindsets.   That, in turn, keeps us in a debilitating cycle of nostalgia. We romanticize the past and become mentally stuck in a location we physically left. In this episode, we’ll discuss: The patriarchal mindsets engrained in us4 things to unlearn so we stop romanticizing the pastHow Charli XCX didn't let brat nostalgia dictate her career7 effective behaviours of forward-looking people The past is dead, the future is unborn, and the only thing alive is the present.   ✨ Hope you love it and can use this law to make your dreams come true. The patriarchy is a textbook example of the law of inversion: what we see isn't the truth, it's a defence mechanism. In fact, the entire system is an institutionalized defence mechanism of Venus/womb envy and it's governed by slave morality (hi, Nietzsche). Flip what it tells you and that's when you get the truth.  In this episode, I'll discuss 5 examples of how the patriarchy hides the truth in plain sight. I encourage you to do the same with anything presented to you as "truth" or "nature." Women are not small men, yet for decades medical research has treated us as such. What's even worse is that women have been excluded from research because of our menstrual cycles. And what's even worser is that because of this bias, many girls and women get misdiagnosed, undiagnosed, and gaslit.
