    Inside NXIVM: Sarah Edmondson on Cult Red Flags & Protecting Our Kids

    If you watched HBO’s The Vow, you know Sarah Edmondson as the NXIVM survivor and whistleblower who helped expose one of the most notorious cults in modern history. And if you’re anything like me, a pop-culture obsessive who is totally fascinated by cults, you probably watched Sarah’s story wondering: How does an intelligent, successful person get pulled into something like this? And would I recognize the warning signs before it was too late? Sarah spent 12 years inside NXIVM, became a leader in the organization and recruited others into something she genuinely believed was helping people. But after being branded as part of the secret women’s group DOS, Sarah didn’t just leave, she helped blow the entire organization open. We talk about what NXIVM promised its members, how Keith Raniere gained their trust and how people were slowly taught to ignore the little voice telling them something wasn’t right. Sarah also takes us inside DOS, the master-slave hierarchy, collateral, coercive control, the branding ceremony and the complicated reality of realizing you helped bring people into a cult.     Purity Rings, a Cheating Fiancé & Homeless With a Baby: Stevi Fox’s Unbelievable Story

    Stevi Fox’s story has a plot twist at every turn. Raised Southern Baptist, Stevi’s entire world revolved around her strict religious upbringing. We get into what it was like growing up within a high-control religious environment, the lasting effects of purity culture, the True Love Waits movement, purity rings, and what happened when she finally went to college and began breaking free from the expectations of home. Then her fiancé cheated on her—and you HAVE to hear the absolutely wild way Stevi exposed the secret. But that was only the beginning. Stevi eventually married, divorced, became a mother, and found herself facing homelessness with an 18-month-old son. She slept in her car before moving into a shack with other unhoused people, keeping a knife underneath her pillow while her baby slept beside her. Somehow, Stevi kept going. She built a company from the ground up, created an entirely new life, found real love with her husband Ben, and went from wondering where she and her son would sleep to casually returning from an appointment at Hermès.     Inside Federal Prison: Prison Life, Unwritten Rules & Starting Over, Christian McKeon Part 2

    In Part 2 of my conversation with Christian McKeon, we’re going inside federal prison and what life behind bars was really like. After being convicted in a $47 million Medicare fraud case, Christian was sentenced to federal prison. In Part 1, he shared how he went from running call centers in Boca Raton to being investigated by the FBI, charged, convicted and ultimately walking into prison. Now, Christian takes us inside what happened next. We talk about the realities of daily life in federal prison, the unwritten rules among inmates, how you learn who to trust, and what it actually feels like to lose your freedom. Christian also shares what happened when he was transferred from a federal prison camp to the much tougher Santa Rosa facility and how dramatically his experience changed. Then we get into what happens after prison: Christian’s early release, returning to the real world, rebuilding his life and moving forward while carrying the label of a convicted felon.     Inside a $47 Million Medicare Fraud Scheme: FBI Raids & Federal Prison, Christian McKeon Part 1

    What is it like to know the FBI is building a case against you, and hear agents breaking down your door? Christian McKeon was charged in a $47 million Medicare fraud case and ultimately sentenced to federal prison. In Part 1 of our conversation, I wanted to understand what really happened behind the scenes: how the scheme worked, what it was like being investigated by the FBI, and the long, uncertain stretch between being charged and actually going to prison. Christian opens up about the toll those years took on his mental health and personal relationships, how he tried to keep living his life with an unknown future hanging over him, and the fiancée who stood by him through all of it. Then comes the part I couldn't stop thinking about: What is it actually like to walk into a federal prison camp knowing you aren't walking back out? Christian takes us inside his arrival at Pensacola prison camp, the fears he had going in, how he adjusted to life behind bars, and what prison camp was actually like. We also get into the people he encountered there, including the surprising influence he says Chrisley Knows Best star Todd Chrisley had inside the camp. This conversation isn’t about excusing what happened or rewriting history. Christian served his sentence and accepted the consequences. I wanted to hear his perspective and understand the human side of an experience most of us will hopefully never have to face. And there was WAY too much to unpack in one episode.
