The BRO Show: Season 4 Episode 17 - Candice Guardino

On this episode of The Bro Show, Jamie Giovinazzo and Troy Sears sit down with comedian, writer, and theatrical storyteller Candice Guardino, creator of Italian Bred, to talk about how a Staten Island upbringing turned into a stage show, a streaming special, and a career built on finding the funny in everyday life. The guys get into how Candice grew up in Staten Island, studied theater at Wagner College, and was told by her professors to lose her accent before bringing it back after graduation. She explains how a decade in Manhattan and time in Los Angeles, including writing sketches for the CBS Diversity Showcase, led to Italian Bred, and why her family is fine with being impersonated on stage, since teasing is their love language. Her theatrical special, filmed at Two River Theater in Red Bank, is now streaming on Amazon and Apple TV. They break down how Candice thinks about comedy, from "sitting in the funny" and watching real life instead of staring at a phone, to the night a show at a theater bar went sideways. She describes herself as a theatrical storyteller instead of a stand-up, and shares advice for emerging performers on following their passion and trusting their instincts in business. Candice also opens up about her long road to becoming a parent and how her son Maverick got his name from a truck in a hospital parking lot. Plus, Troy shares mortgage and credit tips, from getting pre-approved early to counting your full monthly costs and using written dispute letters when fixing credit, and Jamie weighs in on parenting. The table also trades picks in the Staten Island pizza debate. ______________________________________________________________________ Special thanks to our sponsors: Eat Clean Bro and Raceway of Freehold – Kia, Nissan & Jeep Follow them here:  @EatCleanBro  @racewaykia1637  @racewaynissannj  @RacewayJeepofFreehold Visit: https://eatcleanbro.com/ https://www.racewaykia.com/ https://www.racewaynissannj.com/ https://www.jeepoffreehold.com/ ______________________________________________________________________ You will hear about: - Growing up in Staten Island and studying theater at Wagner College - Losing the accent, then bringing it back - Italian Bred and why her family is fine with it - The theatrical special on Amazon and Apple TV - Writing sketches for the CBS Diversity Showcase - A theater bar show that went sideways - Mortgage and credit tips from Troy - Staten Island pizza picks If you're into comedy, theater, storytelling, Staten Island, home buying, or just a good Bro Show conversation, this episode is for you. The BRO Show: Season 4 Episode 16 - Wasil Daoud

On this episode of The Bro Show, Jamie Giovinazzo and Kayla Giovinazzo sit down with food and comedy creator Wasil Daoud to talk about how a kid filming skits at 12 turned into a full-time business with millions of followers, and what he does with that reach. Jamie and Kayla get into how Wasil started out making comedy skits comparing Middle Eastern and American families before moving into mukbang-style food videos, often filmed in his car with a microphone that picks up every bite. Wasil explains the "food dumping" trend he started during Covid, why people came for him, and what he says went into those videos. They break down what it takes to run the business behind the videos: a team of four, hundreds of emails a day, and long days of traveling, filming, editing, and answering comments. Wasil also shares how he shifted to cooking massive trays of food and, by his count, handing out 20,000 to 30,000 meals to shelters and food banks across New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and New York. Plus, Wasil gives his South Jersey restaurant picks, including Rosie's in Ocean Gate and Dooney's Pub, and weighs in on ketchup on eggs. Jamie and Kayla announce the adult gingerbread house competition on December 10th at the American Hotel in Freehold, benefiting the Children's Specialized Hospital Foundation, and close with a deer-season safety reminder for Monmouth County drivers. ______________________________________________________________________ Special thanks to our sponsors: Eat Clean Bro and Raceway of Freehold – Kia, Nissan & Jeep Follow them here:  @EatCleanBro  @racewaykia1637  @racewaynissannj  @RacewayJeepofFreehold Visit: https://eatcleanbro.com/ https://www.racewaykia.com/ https://www.racewaynissannj.com/ https://www.jeepoffreehold.com/ ______________________________________________________________________ You will hear about: - How Wasil started filming at 12 - Mukbang videos and the microphone that captures every bite - Running a full-time creator business with a team of four - Handing out thousands of meals to shelters and food banks - Favorite South Jersey spots, including Rosie's and Dooney's Pub - The December 10th adult gingerbread house competition If you're into food content, social media, giving back, South Jersey restaurants, or just a good Bro Show conversation, this episode is for you. The BRO Show: Season 4 Episode 15 - Victor Rallo and Jake Rallo

On this episode of The Bro Show, Jamie Giovinazzo and Troy Sears sit down with father and son restaurateurs Victor Rallo of Ral Hospitality and Jake Rallo of River Pointe Inn to talk about how a Newark pizzeria legacy grew into some of the Jersey Shore's best-loved restaurants, and what's coming next. The guys get into how Victor grew up around his parents' pizzeria in Newark, which opened in 1963, and how Jake joined the family business after graduating from Cornell and leaving a corporate job. Victor shares why he promised himself he'd run things differently than his dad did, and what it's like having his son's ideas in the room. They break down the family's restaurants today, from Birravino in Red Bank and Undici in Rumson to Pastavino in Staten Island, and how the former Surf BBQ space became River Pointe Inn, a bistro built on quality ingredients and a seasonal French influence. Victor explains why the menus change roughly four times a year, from Jersey tomatoes and corn in season to house-made dough, hand-shaped fresh pasta, and their own ricotta and mozzarella, and why he believes wine belongs with food, course by course, instead of being treated like a cocktail. Plus, Victor and Jake talk about Rallo Alimentari and Focacceria, the all-day Milanese-style café they're building in a former gas station next to Birravino, with an in-house bakery program and an opening planned shortly after the new year. Jake explains why the family decorates every restaurant itself, with roughly 80,000 lights last year and a wireless glue gun on the roof. Victor also shares his two-bowl rule for great pasta, and the table names their favorite Monmouth County spots, including Pollara in Red Bank and Strada. __________________________________________________________________________________________________ Special thanks to our sponsors: Eat Clean Bro and Raceway of Freehold – Kia, Nissan & Jeep Follow them here:  ⁨@EatCleanBro⁩    ⁨@racewaykia1637⁩    ⁨@racewaynissannj⁩    ⁨@RacewayJeepofFreehold⁩   Visit: https://eatcleanbro.com/ https://www.racewaykia.com/ https://www.racewaynissannj.com/ https://www.jeepoffreehold.com/ __________________________________________________________________________________________________ You will hear about: - How Victor grew up in his parents' Newark pizzeria - Jake leaving a corporate job to join the family business - Why the menus change about four times a year - House-made dough, fresh pasta, ricotta, and mozzarella - Pairing wine with food course by course - Decorating with 80,000 lights and a glue gun - Victor's two-bowl rule for great pasta If you're into Jersey Shore restaurants, Italian food and wine, family businesses, or just a good Bro Show conversation, this episode is for you. On this episode of The Bro Show, Jamie Giovinazzo and Troy Sears sit down with Eileen Groom of Brothers Daley and James Murphy of Buoy’s to talk about what it takes to run a restaurant on the Jersey Shore, from a lease that fell through to a holiday spectacular that shuts the doors for two weeks. He also breaks down Buoy’s by Night, with one seating at 6:45, four nights a week, a tasting menu with no decisions to make, and a menu that has never repeated a dish. Eileen walks through the Brothers Daley holiday spectacular, which starts November 13th this year and closes the restaurant for two weeks to decorate, with 5,000 linear feet of garland waiting in storage. She also takes Troy through a seasonal menu built around house-made pasta, chicken nuggets and caviar, and a bar order that starts with champagne.
