Healed-ish

I’m not someone who listens to a ton of podcasts, but every so often I find one I love and can’t stop listening to! This is one of those podcasts for me. I listened to Jubilee’s story and was already very familiar with Bethel, beyond her story she has had some really interesting guests and I love hearing their stories. While I consider myself agnostic but open to belief at this point in my life, I feel so much less alone hearing these stories, many of which I relate to in some part based on my experience being evangelical from my teens to early twenties.

The work this woman is doing is nothing less than reverberating. Her ability to visit the psychotic trauma resulting from religious indoctrination, purity culture, and the damage these things do to women (and men) in a thorough, objective, and thoughtful way; is amazing. Jubilee visit subjects that not only open her up to attack, but also require her to revisit some flavor of her own trauma during every episode. She makes me feel inspired, and I have not experienced anything like she has; I can’t imagine what kind of bravery she inspires in people who have walked similar paths as she. Keep up the good work Jubilee, you’ve got battalions of people using your bravery to inspire their own.

Jubilee’s combination of earnestness, empathy, and experience makes this podcast one of my favorites. Her interviews highlight how much she cares & seeks to understand. If you are deconstructing from religion, especially culty forms of Christianity, this podcast strikes a wonderful balance between humor & pain.

Jubilee is such a kind and wonderful storyteller!
