What if your office was outside? Plein air sketching started for me thousands of miles from home, in the Austrian Alps. I was away from my studio and wanted to leave a unique gift for family, so I sat down with my pastels and started drawing the landscape in front of me. I didn't think I was particularly good at landscapes. So I stopped worrying about being good. I just started looking. Layer by layer. Shape by shape. Color by color. And somewhere along the way, I realized that maybe I didn't need to know exactly what I was doing. Maybe I just needed to pay attention. When I came home to Palm Beach County, that little experiment became one of my favorite things to do. My office became the outdoors, and every plein air sketch became an excuse to get out of the house, experience somewhere new, meet people, and really notice what was around me. In this video, I'm sharing 12 plein air sketches—two from Austria and ten from Palm Beach County—including palm trees and pine cones, my family's mango tree, the Everglades, Jupiter Lighthouse, the Worth Avenue Clock Tower, Lake Worth Beach, and more. These aren't meant to be photographs. They're timestamps. Each drawing captures where I was, what caught my attention, and, most importantly, how I felt in that particular moment. And that's probably the biggest thing plein air sketching has taught me: *The landscape doesn't necessarily change. Sometimes, we change because we're looking at it differently.* If you've ever thought, "I'd love to draw, but I'm not good enough," I hope this inspires you to try anyway. Take a pencil, some crayons, a sketchbook—or even a drawing app on your phone—and just draw what you see. You don't have to finish it. You don't have to show anyone. You just have to look. For me, it's more fun than doom scrolling, it gets me out of my head and into the world, and it makes me notice the beauty that's already around me. This is my little love letter to plein air sketching, both in Schladming, Austria and in Palm Beach County, Florida, USA.🎨 Artist: @jackiemorreale 📍 Featured locations: Austrian Alps & Palm Beach County, Florida🖍️ Medium: Soft pastels🎙️ Host: @wisdomforwannabes Chapters:00:00 What If Your Office Was Outside?00:22 How It All Started in Austria01:12 Learning to Look Deeper01:40 My Outdoor Office in Palm Beach County02:05 The First Sketch: Palm Trees & Pine Cones 🌲02:41 IT'S RAINING!
