In this episode of Spoonfuls of Honey, Christian Life Coach Hala Sahlman sits down with Jordan Strobeck, homeschooling mom of three and co-founder of Wear Love, to talk about breaking free from the "default life" and intentionally building a life with God. How to Trust God in a Season of Suffering | Finding Hope in Jesus

How do you trust God when life is painful, circumstances don't make sense, and you're walking through a season you never would have chosen? When Jesus prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane, He asked His Father to take the suffering ahead of Him away. And yet, He surrendered with the words, "Not my will, but yours be done." What does that moment teach us about trusting God through our own seasons of suffering? In this episode of Spoonfuls of Honey, Christian Life Coach Hala Sahlman reflects on Matthew 26:39 and Hebrews 2:18, exploring the humanity of Jesus, His compassion for those who are hurting, and the comfort of knowing that He understands our pain. Together, we'll explore: Why Jesus understands our suffering more deeply than we may realize How to bring our grief, fear, and disappointment honestly before God What surrender looks like when we don't understand His plans How God can use our experiences to help us love and comfort others Why seasons of suffering don't have to be seasons without hope Whether you're walking through grief, illness, disappointment, or simply a difficult season of life, this episode is an invitation to look toward Jesus and remember that you are deeply loved. You don't have to pretend the pain isn't real in order to trust God through it. 🍯 If Spoonfuls of Honey is encouraging you to recognize God's love and direction in your everyday life, follow the podcast, leave a review, and share this episode with a friend who could use some encouragement today. 🍯 Join us in Honey Hollow: a virtual retreat space designed to help you abide in Jesus: https://honey-hollow.mn.co/landing/

Overwhelmed at Home? Simple Rhythms for a More Peaceful Home with Susan Heid

What if creating a peaceful home isn’t about doing more—but about simplifying what matters most? In this episode of Spoonfuls of Honey, Hala Sahlman sits down with Susan Heid of The Confident Mom to talk about homemaking, motherhood, overwhelm, and the simple rhythms that can help a home feel more peaceful and supportive. Susan shares why homemaking is about so much more than keeping a clean house—and why women don’t need to instinctively know how to do it all. Together, Hala and Susan explore how small, consistent rhythms can reduce decision fatigue, how to determine what actually matters when everything feels overwhelming, and how inviting God into the everyday work of home can shift the way women experience it. They also talk about perfectionism, delegation, involving children in caring for the home, renewing the mind, and giving yourself permission to learn these skills over time. If you’ve ever looked around your house and thought, I should be better at this by now, this conversation is an invitation to release the pressure. You don’t have to create a perfect home. You can begin with what matters today—and allow God to meet you there. 💛 In this episode: Creating simple rhythms when home feels overwhelmingHow to decide what actually needs your attentionInviting God into your homemaking and daily decisionsMoving from resentment toward joyWhy homemaking isn’t synonymous with cleaningDelegating and involving your childrenLetting go of Pinterest-perfect expectationsBuilding confidence through small, repeated actions Susan reminds listeners that confidence doesn't come from already knowing how to do everything—it grows through practicing what you're learning, one day at a time. 💛 Subscribe to Spoonfuls of Honey for conversations about hearing God, intentional Christian living, motherhood, spiritual rhythms, and learning to notice God's presence and direction in everyday life. How to Walk in Step With the Holy Spirit (Instead of Trying to Control Everything)

What if the answer to feeling out of control isn’t gaining more control—but learning to walk in step with the Holy Spirit? This week, Hala shares how the fruit of self-control showed up in places where she has historically struggled: resentment in her marriage, overwhelming days with her kids, an endless list of things she could be doing, and the temptation to abandon what she sensed God asking her to do. But this time, something was different. Instead of trying to control the people and circumstances around her, Hala began to recognize what it looks like to surrender herself to the Holy Spirit—and how that kind of Spirit-led self-control can produce more peace, patience, clarity, and confidence in God’s direction. In this episode of Spoonfuls of Honey, Hala explores Galatians 5 and what it practically looks like to walk in step with the Spirit, recognize the fruit of the flesh versus the fruit of the Spirit, surrender daily plans to God, and follow His direction even when it doesn’t make sense. She also shares a simple reminder for those moments when you’re praying, “God, what am I supposed to do?” but don’t seem to have a clear next step: go back to the last thing you know He asked you to do—and keep walking faithfully from there. If you’re learning how to hear God’s voice, discern His direction, surrender control, or follow the Holy Spirit in your everyday life, this episode is for you. 🍯 If Spoonfuls of Honey is helping you notice God in your everyday life, follow the podcast, leave a review, and share this episode with a friend who might need it this week. Feeling Stuck? 3 Things That May Be Keeping You From God’s Direction

Do you want to follow God’s direction for your life—but still find yourself feeling anxious, frustrated, stuck, or unsure of what He’s asking you to do? Sometimes the problem isn’t that God isn’t leading us. It’s that something else is making it harder for us to recognize His direction and follow Him with freedom. In this episode of Spoonfuls of Honey, Christian Life Coach Hala Sahlman shares three things God has been revealing in her own life that can quietly get in the way of walking closely with Him: idols, unhealed pain, and fear that turns into control. Through Isaiah 48, Romans 5, listening prayer, and honest stories from her own life, Hala explores what it can look like to stop striving, surrender what was never ours to control, and trust that God really does know the way forward. In this episode, you’ll reflect on: • How to recognize the things you may be relying on instead of God• Why rushing the healing process can keep us from experiencing deeper freedom• How fear can show up as control in our everyday lives• What it looks like to surrender your daily plans—not just your big life plans—to God• How listening prayer can help you slow down and become more aware of God’s direction If you’ve been praying, “God, what do You want me to do?” this episode will give you space to slow down, listen, and consider what might need to be surrendered so you can follow Him with greater peace, trust, and freedom. 🍯 Your spoonful of honey for the week: Ask God, Is there anything in my life that is keeping me from following Your direction?
