How One Surgery Exposed the Hidden Wins of OCD (OCD)(Episode 30)

The biggest OCD win is not perfection—it’s realizing your life still works when the fear doesn’t get to run it. This week, Marc and Stacee share the kind of real-world breakthrough that proves recovery is changing everything: driving, parenting, home responsibilities, and the ability to show up when life gets chaotic. After Marc’s eye surgery leaves him temporarily down, Stacee is suddenly doing the very things OCD used to make feel impossible—driving at night, running errands, getting their daughter Avery to homecoming events, handling medications, taking out the trash, caring for the pets, and managing the invisible household work that used to get swallowed by fear and thought loops. What should have been a crisis becomes powerful proof of how far she’s come. You’ll hear Marc and Stacee unpack: Why this week was one of their biggest wins in their OCD and ERP journeyHow exposure work translated into real-life confidence behind the wheelThe difference between surviving and stepping into your role as a partner, parent, and caretakerHow OCD steals ordinary freedom in ways you may not notice until you get it backWhy celebrating small wins matters when the disorder is still part of everyday lifeStacee also opens up about what it feels like to rely on herself for the first time in years, and why that shift matters so much for her marriage, her family, and her sense of identity. Marc reflects on what it meant to watch her carry the load with less fear and more confidence—and how that changes everything when uncertainty hits. If you live with OCD, love someone who does, or simply need proof that recovery can show up in the most ordinary, life-changing moments, this episode will hit home. It’s honest, encouraging, and a reminder that sometimes the loudest victory is simply this: things can still be okay. Social Media and OCD - Why a Cute Reel Sent Me Spiraling (OCD)(Episode 29)

Social media can do more than waste your time - if you live with OCD, it can light up intrusive thoughts, spiral into ruminations, and make perfectly normal moments feel suddenly wrong. Marc and Stacee unpack how one innocent reel sent Stacee into a classic OCD loop, and why ERP, accountability, and a supportive spouse matter even more when the internet starts telling a story that doesn't match your life. Stacee opens up about the specific trigger that hit her this week: a reel about a mom redecorating her daughter's room for her return from college. It looked sweet, harmless, even relatable - until it collided with her own reality of helping their son Myles transition into college and taking down his childhood loft bed. What followed was the familiar OCD math of "Did I do this wrong?" becoming "I'm a terrible mom" in a matter of seconds. You'll hear Marc and Stacee break down how OCD latches onto the word wrong, why mental compulsions and ritualized self-talk can feel necessary in the moment, and how ERP helps them resist the urge to seek certainty. They also get honest about the way social media algorithms keep serving up exactly the kind of content that can fuel comparison, checking, and reassurance-seeking - especially for parents, Gen Xers, and anyone already prone to overthinking. Stacee shares how OCD doesn't just show up in big, obvious ways. It can hide inside text threads, delayed replies, emojis, parenting decisions, room makeovers, and future planning for a house that has to feel just right. Marc brings the grounded perspective of the spouse on the other side of the spiral, helping name the irrational thoughts without feeding them and showing what real support looks like in the middle of discomfort.
