Episode 13: What Living in Germany Taught Me About Belonging

Have you ever walked into a room where it felt like everyone already knew each other? Maybe you’ve moved because of your spouse’s job. Started over in a new city. Joined a new community. Or maybe you’re simply in a season where you’re wondering, “Where do I fit?” I know that feeling. When our family moved to Germany for my husband’s hockey career, I had to build a life from scratch. While he walked into a locker room full of teammates, I had to find my own place. Learning the language wasn’t just about ordering coffee or asking for directions. It became my way of saying, “I want to belong here.” Looking back, I realize Germany wasn’t just teaching me a new language. It was teaching me that belonging doesn’t come from waiting for someone to invite you in. It comes from being curious. From saying yes to conversations. From introducing yourself. From taking the first step—even when you don’t feel completely ready. The friendships I built there are still some of the most meaningful relationships in my life, even though we now live in different parts of the world. If you’ve ever felt like the new person, this episode is for you. Because maybe belonging doesn’t begin with confidence. Maybe it begins with curiosity. 🎧 Listen now, and if this episode resonates with you, I’d love it if you’d leave a review or share it with someone who needs this reminder today. Because the Yes to Us movement grows one woman at a time… choosing herself again.💗

Episode 9- The Hawaii Story I Wasn't Ready to Tell (The Pink Suit, the Lost Luggage, and the Grief I Didn't See Coming)

In January 2024, I landed in Hawaii for a trip I’d worked years to earn. There was just one problem. My luggage didn’t make it. Or so I thought. What followed was a Target run, a bright pink suit, a few unexpected outfits, and a story I originally planned to tell years ago. But looking back, I realize this was never really a story about lost luggage. A few months later, the company I’d spent a decade building closed its doors. What I thought was grief over a business turned out to be grief over something much deeper: community, purpose, friendships, and a chapter of life I wasn’t ready to let go of. In this episode, I’m sharing the Hawaii story I wasn’t ready to tell—and the surprising lessons it taught me about grief, identity, healing, and making space for what’s next. If you’ve ever felt stuck after losing something you loved, this conversation is for you. Because sometimes we’re not stuck at all. Sometimes we’re grieving. And sometimes the next chapter is quietly waiting for us to be ready. 💫  In this episode: ✨ The lost luggage story that became a metaphor for so much more ✨ Why grief isn’t always about what we think it is ✨ The unexpected journey from loss to creating something new ✨ How the Yes to Us podcast, journal, and community began to take shape ✨ Why some chapters aren’t meant to be replaced—they’re meant to be honoured. 💗 Thank you for listening to the Yes to Us podcast. Episode 8: The Person You Choose Shapes Your Life More Than You Realize

What if one decision quietly shaped every part of the life you’re living today? In this episode, I share the unexpected story of how my husband and I met, the seemingly random decisions that changed the course of our lives, and the lessons we’ve learned after 19 years of marriage. From moving across the world, raising three children, building businesses and investing in real estate, to navigating career changes, parenting, and now midlife, this conversation is really about something much bigger than marriage. It’s about choosing a life that feels aligned with your values—even when it doesn’t make sense to everyone else. We talk about: ✨Why the person you choose impacts every area of your life ✨Following your intuition when life takes unexpected turns ✨Building a relationship rooted in friendship, communication, and shared dreams ✨Why date nights and everyday connection matter more than grand gestures ✨Growing together through different seasons of life instead of expecting each other to stay the same ✨Creating a life with intention, flexibility, and purpose If you’re married, dating, or simply reflecting on the life you’re building, I hope this episode reminds you that the biggest transformations often begin with one small decision—and that love isn’t something you choose just once. It’s something you continue choosing, again and again. If this episode resonates with you, I’d love it if you’d follow the podcast, leave a review, or share it with someone who might need the reminder today. Thank you for being here. 💗
