17 | Why "Just Be Consistent" Doesn't Work — and What Actually Rewires Your Brain

Why can we know exactly what we need to do... and still not stick with it? In this episode, I'm unpacking why consistency isn't just a discipline problem — it's a wiring problem. Your brain and body actually believe what you keep telling them, and they respond to it.  I share a story from a mother/daughters trip this past weekend, where I watched my oldest daughter's anxiety completely take over — and what brought her back wasn't a lecture, it was her body coming first, then the truth. We talk about what's happening in your brain when survival mode takes the wheel, why your prefrontal cortex goes offline in those moments, and how that connects back to what Crystal Barnett and I unpacked in Episode 15 about how our bodies keep score. I also give you one simple, repeatable tool for the next time your scared brain takes over — something you can use in the moment, no matter what triggered it. If this episode hits home and you know you need personal support and accountability, my Work-Life Balance RESET coaching call is designed to help you get to the root of what's driving the cycle. In this 1-hour session, we'll take an honest look at what's keeping you stuck in survival mode and build a plan to move forward with more peace and clarity. 16 | Too Busy to Look Up: 2 Reasons High-Performers Stay Stuck in Burnout (and How to Get Out)

If you already know what to do — you've got the journal with the plan written in it, the color-coded calendar, the morning routine that worked last month — and you're still watching yourself not move… friend, you are so not alone. I've been sitting in this exact spot with so many women lately, and I keep noticing the same two things underneath the busy. Not laziness. Not weak faith. Something quieter that nobody warns high-performing women about. Because here's the thing about this season — between work deadlines, the kids' sports and dance schedules, and end-of-year planning, you get so busy being in your own day-to-day that you can't see the pattern you're actually stuck in — and you certainly can't see the way out of it from where you're standing. In this episode, I want to gently take that weight off your shoulders. We're talking about the two real reasons smart, capable, faith-filled women stay circling in burnout — and spoiler: it's not willpower, and it's not discipline. And we'll talk about the long game, because burnout isn't broken in a weekend. It's relinquished as a practice — with somebody kindly but firmly asking you, week after week, "Did you do the thing you said you were going to do?" If you've been feeling scattered, spiritually disconnected, or quietly ashamed that your plans keep falling apart, this episode is for you. In this episode, we cover: Why too many choices becomes its own kind of cage for high-achieving women The one small step that actually closes the gap between knowing and doing Sometimes the most meaningful breakthrough in a busy season isn't a perfect plan. It's a faithful two minutes — and a support person who refuses to let you disappear back into the fog. 15 | When Survival Mode Becomes Normal: Calming the Nervous System with Crystal Barnett

What if the tension you keep feeling in your body is about more than being busy? In this special interview episode of Work-Life Boundaries, I sit down with Crystal Barnett, founder and owner of The Healing Room, to talk about the connection between stress, the nervous system, and the body. If you’ve been living in go-mode for so long that survival mode feels normal, this conversation will help you understand why your body may be carrying more than you realize. Crystal shares how chronic stress, unresolved emotions, and nervous-system overload can show up physically through tightness, pain, exhaustion, and that constant sense of internal pressure so many high-capacity women quietly live with. She also brings practical, simple ways to start slowing down and creating space for the body to feel safe again. This episode is for the woman who has been holding it all together on the outside while feeling worn down on the inside. In this episode, we cover: why survival mode can start to feel normal how stress and unresolved emotions can show up physically the role of fascia and why tension doesn’t always stay in one place why your body may be asking for more than another push-through moment simple ways to begin slowing down and reconnecting with your body Connect with Me: Website + RESET Coaching Call: https://worklifeboundariescoach.com/ Instagram: www.instagram.com/bethany.siems  Join the Work Life Boundaries for Women Facebook community: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1610183776867046 Freebies & Discount Codes: Worship all week with the Jesus Anthem Spotify Playlist: http://bit.ly/4a0MMwK Brick Device – 10% off purchase link: https://www.getbrick.com/BETHANY44445 Connect with Crystal /The Healing Room: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thehealingroomar  Scheduling Site: https://thehealingroom.noterro.com/

14 | When a High-Performer Wants to Quit: Ask These Questions First

Are you finding yourself carrying things that were never yours to carry...and it's draining you to the core?  In this episode, I’m sharing the deeper story behind leaving my job after 7 years — and why the decision was about so much more than burnout. It wasn’t impulsive. It came after more than a year of prayer, planning, discernment, and wrestling with the thing God kept asking me to do: trust Him. If you’re a high-performing woman who always figures it out, fills the gaps, and keeps going long after you’re tired, this conversation is for you. We’re talking about the tension between high performance, responsibility, burnout, anxiety, physical depletion, and faith — and how to discern whether you’re just tired… or whether something actually needs to change. In this episode, we cover: Why high performers often stay too long How competence can turn into over-responsibility The difference between temporary depletion and a deeper pattern What it looks like when strategy ends and trust begins Reflection questions from this episode: Am I experiencing temporary depletion, or is there a pattern here? Am I staying because I’m called to stay — or because I’m afraid of what happens if I leave? Am I carrying something because it’s mine — or because I’m scared no one else will carry it if I put it down? Have I actually asked God what He wants from me here? If I couldn’t control what happens next, would I still trust God enough to take the next step? 13 | When Life Gets Busy: 2-Minute Reset to Stay Rooted in God's Word

If you’ve stepped into this season with a fresh plan, a color-coded calendar and the best intentions…only to watch it all begin unraveling, you are so not alone. This fall, my home looks a little like organized chaos. I’m homeschooling two of my children and sending two to public school, one of which is involves watching my baby start Pre-K. Add sports, dance, work deadlines and end-of-year business planning, and it can quickly feel like everything is urgent. In the middle of it all, many working moms and high-achieving women carry another quiet pressure: I should be doing better with my time with God. In this episode, I want to gently take that weight off your shoulders. We’re talking about how to stay rooted in God’s Word in the middle of real life — not ideal circumstances — with a simple two-minute reset that will help you return to God when life feels loud, messy and unpredictable. Sometimes the most meaningful spiritual discipline in a busy season isn’t a perfect hour with God. It’s a faithful two minutes with Him in the middle of your day. If you’ve been feeling scattered, spiritually disconnected or ashamed that your quiet time keeps falling apart, this episode is for you. 12 | Work-Life Balance Tips Keep Failing You? What High-Achieving Women Need to Unlearn.

Why do so many work-life balance tips sound good… but don’t actually help for very long? If you’ve ever tried waking up earlier, getting more organized, saying no more often, time blocking better, or being “more present,” only to still feel exhausted, stretched thin, and frustrated with yourself, this episode is for you. In this conversation, I’m unpacking why so much balance advice keeps falling flat for high-achieving women and working moms. Not because you’re lazy or doing life wrong. But because the deeper issue often isn’t your schedule — it’s the mental overload, emotional strain, spiritual distraction, and pressure of carrying too much for too long. The Bible story of Simon Peter in Luke 5:1–11, is my favorite example here, which talks about what it looks like to keep striving in your own strength, come up empty, and then be invited by Jesus into something deeper involving trust, obedience, and surrender. If you’ve been working hard and still feel empty in the places that matter most, I hope this episode helps you take a deep breath and recognize that the answer may not be more effort. It may be trust…and laying down what is no longer yours to let Jesus lead you deeper than your own strategies ever could. If this episode hits home and you know you need personal support, and accountability, my Work-Life Balance RESET coaching call is designed to help you get to the root of what’s draining you. In this 1-hour session, we’ll take an honest audit of your work and life, identify where your energy is leaking, and uncover where boundaries need to be placed so you can move forward with more clarity, peace, and support. 11 | How Did I Get Here? 5 Common Patterns Triggering Burnout (and How to Reset)

How did I get here? If you’ve been feeling stuck in the same exhausting loop of overthinking, overdoing and running on empty, welcome to the Work-Life Boundaries podcast. In this episode, I’m unpacking 5 common patterns that quietly fuel burnout for so many working moms and high-achieving women — staying in go mode, overcommitting, people pleasing, perfectionism and trying to control everything. These patterns can feel normal when you’ve been living in survival mode for a long time, but they are often the exact things keeping you overwhelmed, reactive and disconnected from the peace you’re craving. This conversation is an honest look at what these patterns are really about, how they show up in both work and home life, and why slowing down enough to identify them is the first step toward change. If you’ve been trying to improve your work & life balance but still feel like your mind, body and spirit are constantly carrying too much, this episode will help you notice what may be underneath the chaos. We’re also talking about how to begin shifting out of those default responses and into more supportive routines, healthier awareness and faith-rooted next steps that help you move out of burnout and into greater peace. If you’re tired of functioning on autopilot and wondering why life still feels so heavy, my Work-Life Balance RESET coaching call is designed to help you get to the root of what’s draining you. In this 1-hour session, we’ll take an honest audit of your work and life, identify where your energy is leaking and look at where boundaries need to be placed so you can move forward with more clarity, peace and support.
