Elbows Up: Canada v Trump

After Donald Trump proposed that Canada could be consumed as America's 51st State, Adam Gopnik reflects on his homeland's history with the United States and Canada's new-found patriotic toughness - and how it differs from nationalism. 'It’s is only a little startling, though very Canadian, to find the new motto 'elbows up' radiating everywhere in Canada,' Adam writes, referring to a defensive position found in the country's premier passion, ice hockey. Tractors in Whitehall

As farmers prepare for another march at Whitehall in protest at the government's inheritance tax plans, Michael Morpurgo discusses the growing divide between city and countryside. The subject is usually an aspect of modern life, and the opinions range in tone from moralistic to historical, satirical, mournful or even humorous. The podcast is superbly produced, as are all podcasts from the BBC.

Sir David Attenborough's Point of View is among my favorite podcasts and after only hearing three episodes. Ten minutes well worth spent and an invaluable experience that not only nourishes one's intellect but stimulates curiosity to learn more and share. Sir David's Point of View on the natural world is just as intriguing and captivating to listen to viewing his documentaries or books. I highly recommend this podcast not just for the Attenborough enthusiast but for all those interested in natural history topics. Excellently articulated and interesting throughout.
