    Don’t Waste Your Wake-Up Call: Infinite Possibilities. Choose What Matters Now | 011

    How do you make the most of a wake-up call without feeling like you have to reinvent your entire life overnight? For Nancy, two cancer diagnoses changed the way she thought about time, ambition, and possibility. After more than two decades as an entrepreneur, reinvention was already familiar territory. But a serious health challenge made one truth much harder to ignore: “someday” is not a reliable strategy. The question became less about what she could do next and more about what mattered now.     Good Money. Wrong Work: Just Because You Can, Doesn’t Mean You Should | 009

    How do you know when resistance means you need to push through, and when it is telling you that the work no longer belongs in your next chapter? For accomplished professionals and entrepreneurs, capability can become a trap. When you are good at something, people keep asking. When the work pays well and earns praise, it can be surprisingly difficult to admit that you simply do not want to keep doing it anymore. Nancy makes an important distinction between resistance that comes from fear or discomfort and resistance that may be signaling misalignment. She shares a turning point from her own business, when years of writing award-winning annual reports for community banks left her successful on paper but increasingly drained by the work itself. A simple question from her husband, “Do you even like writing annual reports for community banks?” helped her realize she did not need another project or award to prove she was capable. She could finish the work well and still choose not to carry it forward. That same discernment applies to offers, clients, revenue streams, and business opportunities.     What It Means to Love Your Business and Your Life | 007

    What does it mean to truly love your business and your life, especially when a major life experience changes what success means to you? One year after receiving her second cancer diagnosis, Nancy received very different news: her scans showed no evidence of cancer. That milestone became an opportunity to look at the choices she has made since and consider whether the life and business she is building actually feel good to live inside. Those choices have touched nearly every part of her world. A move from Bellevue to sunny Tucson changed her daily environment. Health and fitness became non-negotiable priorities rather than something to fit around work. She returned to the piano, learned to knit, and made space for interests that offer pleasure without needing to produce a measurable result. Her approach to entrepreneurship changed too. Nancy is choosing a leaner, boutique business built around fewer ideal clients, deeper relationships, more human marketing, and meaningful work. She has stepped away from big launches and the assumption that business growth must mean more people, more promotion, and more complexity.
