Dating After 40 Deserves Hazard Pay 😂 | Advice Night with Stacy Jolley and NK Navarro

🎙️ A new episode of the Advice Night Podcast is here! 💋 Tonight I’m joined by author NK Navarro, who says dating after 40 deserves hazard pay... and after hearing her stories, I have to agree! 😂❤️ Let me tell you about NK. If you’d met her at 40, you would have thought she had life all figured out. She has two master’s degrees, built nonprofit programs, taught at the college level, launched businesses, raised her kids, and even moved her whole life to get specialized medical care for her youngest son. Then she started dating and realized that being accomplished and being wise are not the same thing. She spent the next five years learning about healthy relationships the hard way, through hundreds of dates on the apps. NK answered your questions about how to tell a red flag from simply having standards, how a single mom can make time for a life of her own without feeling guilty, and why a smart, successful woman didn’t see a breakup coming. Her answer to that last one stopped me in my tracks! She also shares the most unforgettable date of her life (you will NOT believe this one), and we finally get to the bottom of why so many men pose with a fish in their dating profile pictures. 🎣 But first, I help a viewer whose coworker presented two years of her hard work as her own. Oh, honey. 😤 ⏱️ Chapters  00:00 Welcome to Advice Night  00:24 Viewer question: My coworker stole my work!  04:03 Meet NK Navarro  05:46 NK’s most unforgettable date  12:03 Red flag or just having standards?  18:16 Single mom guilt: making time for yourself  24:14 Blindsided by a breakup: Why didn’t I see it coming?  30:06 Why are men always holding a fish in their dating pics? 🎣  32:20 NK’s #1 piece of advice: Love is real  33:14 Where to find NK 📚 Find NK  Website: https://www.nknavarro.com TikTok: @authornknavarro Her book, When the Bar Is in Hell: Dating at 40, is available at Barnes & Noble, Books-A-Million, and Indigo in Canada Her new psychological thriller, The Reading, is out now! “You Are Not Superwoman” Real Talk for Working Moms-Advice Night with Stacy Jolley and Jessica Danel

🎙️ Episode 4 of the Advice Night Podcast is here! 💋 Tonight I’m joined by Jessica Donnell, who built a million-dollar preschool from her living room while raising three kids, two with special needs, and then walked away from it all when her daughter needed her more. ❤️ Let me tell you about Jessica. She sketched her dream preschool, pre-sold parents a full year before it opened, and opened the doors on day one with 140 students and 28 staff. Then, at the height of her success, she chose her family and never looked back. She’s been married for decades, and she brings a raw, no-filter, laugh-so-you-don’t-cry kind of honesty to motherhood, marriage, business, and starting over. Jessica answered your questions about a mompreneur who feels like she’s failing at everything, a wife who says that after almost 20 years, she and her husband feel more like roommates, and a mom who just learned her son has developmental delays and doesn’t know how to advocate for him at school. Her advice for that mama had me cheering. Plus, she shares her motto for anyone with a big dream: domination by determination! 💪 ⏱️ Chapters  00:00 Meet Jessica Donnell  01:24 The thing Jessica is proudest of  05:03 Mompreneur guilt: How do you do it all?  11:17 Together 20 years and feeling like roommates  18:50 My son has developmental delays: How do I advocate for him?  25:13 Jessica’s #1 piece of advice: domination by determination  27:17 Where to find Jessica 📚 Find Jessica Host of Jess Saying with Jessica Danel Website: www.jesssaying.net  TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@jessdanel X (Twitter): https://x.com/Jessdanel   LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jessica-danel-mba-88970283/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/jessdanel/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Jessicadanel3 YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@jessicadanel4240 Pinterest https://www.pinterest.com/jesscuz Threads: https://www.threads.com/@jessdanel Truth: https://truthsocial.com/@JessicaDanel  Find me on:  Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/advice.night/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61584648368838 TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@advicenight Website: https://www.advicenight.com And as always, I seal every episode with a kiss. 💋 #AdviceNight #Mompreneur #WorkingMom #MomGuilt #MarriageAdvice #SpecialNeedsParenting #IEP #Autism #ParentingAdvice #StacyJolley

Is it ADHD or just being a kid? 🧠 - Advice Night with Stacy Jolley and Marvie Corbett

Tonight I'm joined by therapist Marvie Corbett, who learned she had ADHD as a grown woman with kids of her own, and she's helping us get all up in the business of brains, parenting, and postpartum. ❤️ Let me tell you about Marvie. After her second baby was born, she went through postpartum depression and anxiety, and while getting treatment, she found out she had ADHD and a learning disorder she never knew about. When she saw her test results, she texted her best friends, "I just learned I'm smart." 🥹 Now she's a mom of three and a therapist who speaks both languages, neurotypical and neurodivergent, and she helps families see that what looks like a behavior problem is often just a brain doing its best. Marvie answered your questions about a seven-year-old who can't get out the door without 10 reminders, a mom who feels guilty about her daughter's late diagnosis, and a wife who suspects her husband has ADHD but can't bring it up without a fight. Then she opened up about her own postpartum journey. I also share my "black bag" rule for marriage, and before we get to Marvie, I help a viewer whose friend of 15 years has been secretly dating her ex-husband. Ooh, this one's a doozy! 😳 🧠 Resources from the episode  Executive functioning questionnaire (not a diagnostic tool, it just shows your strengths and weaker "muscles"): https://nyspta.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/Conv17-305-dawson-executive-skills-questionnaire.pdf Fair Play card deck for dividing up the visible AND invisible household load: https://www.amazon.com/dp/059323166X ❤️ If you've just had a baby and you're struggling, you don't have to do this alone:  National Maternal Mental Health Hotline: call or text 1-833-TLC-MAMA (1-833-852-6262), 24/7  Postpartum Support International HelpLine: 1-800-944-4773 ⏱️ Chapters  00:00 Welcome to Advice Night  [00:00] Viewer question: My friend is dating my ex-husband!  [00:00] Meet Marvie Corbett  [00:00] Helping kids feel like the boss of their brains  [00:00] Is it ADHD or just being a kid?  [00:00] Why are ADHD diagnoses on the rise?  [00:00] Technology, MFA, and executive functioning overload  [00:00] Mom guilt after a child's ADHD diagnosis  [00:00] Does my husband have ADHD? Two Dads, No Roadmap: Our Foster Adoption Story | Advice Night with Stacy Jolley and Dr. Lane Igoudin

Okay, friends, grab your tissues, because this one got me. 🥹 Tonight I'm joined by Dr. Lane Igoudin, and we're getting ALL up in the business of foster adoption, being two dads, and coming out to your parents. Let me tell you about Lane. He and his husband John became dads through foster adoption back when there was NO roadmap for out gay men building families this way. Talk about major build-the-plane-while-flying-it vibes! Their daughters came to them as a newborn and a one-year-old, and it took YEARS in the court system before those girls were legally theirs (even though they were theirs in their hearts from day one). Lane has shared his story on NBC, NPR, and so many stages, and he's changing how people think about what family can look like. I asked Lane the questions you all sent in. We talked about the real differences between domestic, international, and foster adoption (this one came from one of my best friends!), why the reunification debate gets so heated online, and what it was like raising two little girls through Prop 8, DOMA, and years of legal limbo. Then I asked him to share some comfort with a sweet viewer who's nervous about coming out to their parents... and his answer had me in actual tears. Good luck, kiddo. We're rooting for you. 💛 Stick around to the end for the relationship advice Lane swears holds a family together. He and John just celebrated 29 years, so trust me, you want to hear it! ⏱️ Chapters  00:00 Meet Dr. Lane Igoudin   01:43 Lane's favorite parts of being a dad   03:22 Domestic vs. international vs. foster adoption   07:40 "The goal of foster care is reunification": let's talk about it   12:24 How long until the girls were legally theirs   14:22 Parenting as two dads: Prop 8, DOMA & legal limbo   18:17 Being a visible family & finding your village   21:48 How to come out to your parents   26:15 Lane's advice for future foster parents & couples   28:42 Where to find Lane & his book 📖 Grab Lane's book, A Family, Maybe (2nd edition!)  It reads like a novel, but every bit of it really happened. You can find it on Amazon, Bookshop.org, and Barnes & Noble, or head to his website and he'll sign a copy and mail it to you!   🌐 laneigoudin.com   📱 Follow Lane on Instagram: @laneigoudin | Facebook: Lane Igoudin 💬 Now I've got two jobs for you:  1️⃣ Hit that subscribe button so you know when new episodes drop!   2️⃣ Head over to advicenight.com and submit YOUR questions.
