When I first saw the announcement of this podcast I was so very excited! I am 70 years old, a mother and grandmother who has been a Nationals fan since the day they arrived in Washington, DC. The first home opener occurred on my son’s 12th birthday, so we took him and his best friend to that game. We have been diehards ever since. The only other baseball podcast I listen to is the Nats Chat podcast hosted by Al Galdi and Mark Zuckerman. I love that podcast and have never missed an episode. But this… this is a podcast hosted by WOMEN! People who get me. People who understand that women can and do love baseball as much as men (in my case, more, sometimes) and can understand the enthusiasm and EMOTION I feel when watching the Nats play baseball. When I attend games at Nats Park, I bring by Bob Carpenter scorebook and keep score of the games. I have completed 2 now and just bought my third to begin next season. The people around me always marvel that I know how to score baseball games. I had a man hit on me at a game once because I keep a scorebook. And I’m old! And married! Now, about the podcast. I have listened to all 3 episodes you have published. I have to admit, I was a little disappointed that the Ladies have chosen to continue to remain anonymous, though in this day and age, I completely understand why. I have followed you on X from the beginning and feel like you are old friends. Same with Erika. I have often hoped I would be able to meet you in person at the ballpark sometime to thank you for what you do. I love your posts. The content of these first episodes was great! I even took notes so I could respond to a few things. First of all, I agree with you that the in-game interviews are atrocious. They distract from the game that I turned on the TV to watch. Like Erika, I prefer to listen to the Charlie and Dave audio on Nationals.TV. I don’t mind Dan Kolko but I find Frandsen insufferable and I don’t like the way he treats Dan. I find him to be arrogant and condescending. I loved the bumpy roads and beautiful places segment. I, too, was really annoyed with CJ Abrams for not running out the ball and only getting a single. I was yelling at the TV. I agree wholeheartedly with you about Josiah Gray. I was in tears watching the fan reaction to him coming out of the bullpen. He deserves every bit of the love he got. Both of you are obviously very knowledgeable about baseball and have a great perspective. I think the men who love baseball would enjoy this podcast, too. I enjoyed hearing about your reading preferences. I, too, am an avid readier and am always looking for recommendations for new books. So, Ladies and Erika, my first impression of your podcast is very positive and I look forward to future episodes and continuing to follow you on X.
