Who Told You You Had To Earn Your Worth?

You can be an accomplished, successful woman who takes care of everyone around her, yet still feel like you need to justify doing something for yourself. Why is it so easy to invest in everyone else, but so much harder to believe we're worth investing in ourselves? In this episode of In the Weeds with T, we're exploring the connection between worthiness, productivity, and the expectations so many women carry. We'll look at how early lessons about hard work, responsibility, and putting others first can quietly turn into beliefs that our value depends on how much we accomplish or how useful we are to others. We'll talk about why receiving can feel uncomfortable, how guilt can keep us from pursuing what we want, and why gratitude for the life we've built doesn't mean we have to stop growing. Because there's a difference between being proud of what you've accomplished and believing you have to keep accomplishing things to deserve a good life. We'll also explore what it means to see yourself as your greatest investment, without turning personal growth into another thing you have to get right. Your Capital Check: What am I making myself do before I'll believe I'm worthy of this? Think about something you've been wanting for yourself. Notice the explanations, obligations, or feelings of guilt that come up when you imagine giving yourself permission to have it. What conditions have you been placing on yourself, and are they ones you still want to live by? Carry this with you: You don't have to earn the right to invest in yourself. Your worth was never supposed to be the return on your accomplishments. Ready to explore the deeper work? My Capital Gains Breakthrough Day is a private, one-on-one experience designed to help you recognize the beliefs and subconscious patterns influencing your decisions, reconnect with who you are, and grow into your true identity. Self-Trust Isn't Knowing You'll Get it Right

You can be the person everyone counts on to make decisions, solve problems, and figure things out, yet still find yourself second-guessing the decisions you make for your own life. Why is it sometimes easier to trust ourselves with everyone else’s responsibilities than with our own desires? In this episode of In the Weeds with T, we’re talking about what self-trust actually looks like, especially when you’ve spent years believing you need to have everything figured out before making your next move. We’ll explore how overthinking can become a way of avoiding uncertainty, why past mistakes don’t erase your ability to make good decisions, and how the constant search for reassurance can keep you from trusting the wisdom you’ve already earned. We’ll also talk about building self-trust through small commitments, learning to make decisions without knowing exactly how they’ll turn out, and recognizing that your ability to adapt is one of your greatest assets. Your Capital Check: What am I waiting to know before I’ll allow myself to decide? Consider whether you genuinely need more information or whether you’re waiting for a level of certainty that may never come. Carry this with you: Self-trust isn’t knowing you’ll always get it right. It’s knowing you won’t abandon yourself when you don’t. Ready to explore the deeper work? The Beliefs Running Your Life That You Never Choose

Have you ever known better and still found yourself doing the same damn thing? Sometimes the issue isn’t that we need more information, more discipline, or another strategy. Sometimes there’s something happening underneath what we consciously know. In this episode of In the Weeds with T, we’re getting into the beliefs, associations, and patterns that can influence the way we move through our lives without us even realizing they’re there. We’ll talk about how experiences shape the meaning we make, why our brains become very good at finding evidence for what we already believe, and how a conclusion formed years ago can still be getting a vote in decisions we’re making today. Limiting beliefs don’t always create lives that look unsuccessful. Sometimes they create incredibly successful women. Perfectionism can produce achievement. Fear of disappointing people can make you incredibly dependable. The need to prove yourself can build an impressive résumé. Those patterns may have helped get you here. The question is whether you still want them driving where you go next. Your Capital Check: Think about something you want to do and finish this sentence: “I would do it, but…” Then ask yourself: Is this a fact, or is this a belief? Where did I learn it? Do I still want it making decisions for me? You can’t question a belief you don’t realize you’re carrying. Carry this with you: A thought can feel completely true and still deserve to be questioned. Once you can see the beliefs and patterns influencing your choices, you get to decide whether they still get a vote. 🎙️ In the Weeds with T Success is only part of the story. What Are You Carrying That You Don't Want Your Daughters to Inherit?

We inherit more than eye color, family traditions, and last names. Sometimes what gets passed from one generation of women to the next is much quieter: the expectations we carry, the sacrifices we normalize, the ways we put ourselves last, and our ideas about what it means to be a “good” woman. In this episode of In the Weeds with T, we’re talking about the patterns we may have inherited from the women who came before us and the ones we may be unintentionally passing on to the women coming behind us because our lives are teaching even when our mouths aren’t. This isn’t about blaming our mothers or rejecting the strength of the generations before us. We can be deeply grateful for what they gave us while still deciding that some things don’t need to keep traveling through the family line. We can honor their strength without believing we have to repeat every sacrifice they made. Your Capital Check: What am I carrying that I don’t want the women coming behind me to inherit? Then ask: What would it look like for this to begin changing with me? Maybe legacy isn’t giving our daughters a blueprint for exactly how to live. Maybe it’s giving them permission. Permission to have another chapter. To be a beginner. To want something different. To build a life that belongs to them. Carry this with you: Inheritance isn’t destiny. Some things were passed to us. That doesn’t mean they have to be passed through us. 🎙️ In the Weeds with T Success is only part of the story. Let’s talk about the rest. Website: www.tamikomcgurk.com Connect on IG HERE

The Difference Between "I Can" and "I Should"

Being capable is a strength. But somewhere along the way, I can handle it can quietly turn into I should handle it. And those are two very different things. In this episode of In the Weeds with T, we’re talking about what happens when being the capable one becomes an expectation, both from the people around us and from ourselves. I don’t believe your capability is something you need to fix. Being dependable, resourceful, and able to figure things out has probably helped you build much of the life you have today. But just because you can carry something doesn’t mean it belongs to you. We’ll talk about recognizing what’s actually yours to carry, allowing other people to develop their own capability, and why an open hour on your calendar doesn’t automatically mean you’re available. Your Capital Check: Ask yourself three questions: 1. Can I? Probably. 2. Should I? 3. Is this actually mine? Your time, energy, and capability are valuable forms of capital. You get to decide where they’re invested. Carry this with you: Your capability has already been proven. You don’t have to keep proving it by carrying everything you possibly can. Sometimes owning your authority means stepping up and sometimes it means looking at something you absolutely could handle and deciding: This one isn’t mine. 🎙️ In the Weeds with T Success is only part of the story. Who Are You When Nobody Needs Anything From You?

For a lot of capable women, being needed can feel a lot like being valued. You become the one people call. The one who figures it out. The one who remembers, organizes, fixes, helps, carries, and makes sure everyone else is okay. And after years of being that woman, it can be surprisingly difficult to answer a simple question: Who am I when nobody needs anything from me? In this episode of In the Weeds with T, we’re talking about the difference between being needed and being valuable, and how easily our usefulness can become tangled up with our identity. I share why I don’t believe there’s anything wrong with being dependable, capable, or someone others can count on. Those are strengths. But when being useful becomes proof of our worth, we can lose sight of the woman underneath everything she does for everyone else. We’ll also look at the ways our constant helping can unintentionally teach the people around us that we’ll always do the carrying, and what it might look like to begin creating space for ourselves without abandoning the people we love. Your Capital Check for this episode: Where are you using your usefulness to prove your value? Then ask yourself: If I didn’t have to be useful here, who would I get to be instead? Your value doesn’t begin when someone needs you, and it doesn’t disappear when they don’t. Carry this with you: You are more than the problems you solve for other people. There’s a woman underneath all those roles and responsibilities who is still valuable, interesting, and worthy of investment. Maybe it’s time you got to know her. Thanks for getting in the weeds with me. I’ll meet you back here next week. 🎙️ In the Weeds with T Success is only part of the story. Let’s talk about the rest.
