Powerful stuff

Love the knowledge and insight.

You’re better than this Koop.

I respected you. I’ve been a longtime listener and fan. I bought your books. And I’m deeply disappointed by the recent pettiness, bullying of other coaches and content creators, and whiny anger disguised as caring about scientific integrity and professionalism in trail/ultrarunning.

The worst part is that I strongly agree with the heart of your message and believe it’s an important one that needs to be heard. But it’s drowned out by these highly personal, mean-spirited attacks on good people who don’t deserve it.

I’m here for the great high-quality content. Don’t drag your listeners into your personal drama. This is appalling behavior for a leader of your status and influence in our sport. Being a good coach is about more than just knowing your sports science. Other people have value to add and belong here too. You are not the gatekeeper.

yeah, yeah

I love Koop for his dives into research and featuring guests that can speak to the science yet provide some practical tips. The chats with the coaches about nutrition/hydration/performance-related aspects are sometimes annoying because it seems ya'll forget there are Sport Dietitians out here that work with ultra runners (and coaches shouldn't be doing all of that work to help athletes). Also, Koop, sometimes your frequent "yeah, yeah, yeahs" like in episode 163 are hard to keep hearing. But keep up the good work - this really is a great pod overall.
