Jermaine was raised by his single mom in the ghetto of Leavenworth, Kansas. His sense of identity came from crime as early as 12. By the time he was 19, he’d fallen headlong into drug addiction and dealing. He’d also become a father.
One day, Jermaine’s 8-month-old son was crawling on the floor, fussing for his dad to hold him. Jermaine was high, irritated by his son’s cries, and impatient to go sell drugs. “Don’t leave,” begged his girlfriend, Jessica. “Pick up your son.”
Jermaine turned and walked out the door, and a few hours later, he was in handcuffs. He was later sentenced to three years in prison. That wrong choice was transformed by the power of the resurrected Jesus!

Perry admits, “I’ve come through a six-week season of having one of my ancient teenage sins in my face.” He has some insights about how he’s weathered the accusations and how the weight lifted as he realized once again, the boy is forgiven!
As Shawna was singing “The Blessing” over her new granddaughter, Selah, she remembered where the lyrics came from. Moses was reminding the Israelites that God is a faithful God and that He blesses those who love and obey Him to a thousand generations. That promise is for us! 
In this first week of being a grandma Shawna has been surprised by how often she’s thought of her dad who went to heaven in 2022. He was a man of faith who’s life story and song pointed to Jesus and how he passed on his faith to his children, and his children’s children. 
Perry’s Muslim friends think it’s blasphemy that he believes that Jesus is God, that Jesus is the Son of God. He’s shares some of the reasons why they think that and calls us to respectfully hold on to this unshakeable, non-negotiable, earth-shaking truth that Jesus is Lord!
Shawna woke up to an email reminding her it was time to check in for her flight back to the states. She knows that a part of her heart will remain in Australia as she says goodbye to her new grandbaby and her kids, but she’s also reassured that the God who goes with her will be with them.

Months ago, Shawna was asked to come to Australia for the birth of her 1st grandchild. She thought it’d be amazing, yet very possible to miss the birth. So, Shawna shares what it meant for her to actually be in the room as Selah came into the world.
Then, Shawna’s daughter Eden says it “feels natural” to be a mom. Son-in-law Grant says it’s “surreal” to be a dad. And we hear how the name “Selah” has everything to do with the day Jesus found Grant.
Also in this episode we talk with bible teacher Colin Smith about his latest book, “Fly Through the Bible,” that shows how the bible is one big story of God’s unfolding plan to save you and me, to save the world!
We see that God promises a deliverer 3 chapters into Genesis; how Jesus shows up when God calls Abraham to offer his son Issac; how the Jewish people were looking for a conquering Messiah but got someone way better, and how the story is moving toward an end, which is really “the beginning of the true story.”

Kenza was born and raised in the Muslim family in Casablanca, Morrocco. Her fear of failing Allah began early. Then her family moved to the states when she was 12.
That’s when her efforts to please God ramped up a hundred times! Islam required praying five time a day, she’d pray seven. Islam required a 30 day fast; she’d fast for 40.
By the time she was 23, she gave up trying to be good enough. She knew she couldn’t. She was convinced God hated her. And that’s when she decided to end her life.
Kenza Haddock is a licensed counselor, an author (her latest book is The Ex-Muslim’s Guide to Christianity) and she’s a follower of Jesus. Because Jesus found her the night she was going to end it all.

Shawna’s granddaughter Selah is here, and Shawna’s smitten! When Shawna became a mom she felt like her heart opened up to love deeper than she ever had. Now that she’s a grandma there’s an even deeper love she’s experiencing for her granddaughter. This is just a sliver of how much the heavenly Father loves you!
If you’re anything like Perry and Shawna you’ve looked up in awe at the heavens. The universe is SO vast, and yet our awesome Creator took time to remind Shawna to lock her car door.
Shawna’s in Australia helping her daughter and son-in-law adjust to being first-time parents and they make a great team! We were created for community – to do life together. We’re invited into community with Father, Son and Holy Spirit and with others who are following Jesus.
It’s easy to waste time on things that are worthless. For Shawna it’s scrolling at something to buy online. For Perry, it scrolling through Google news. But God keeps on rescuing us from worthless things to fill our hearts with goodness.

If we’re going to not just survive, but thrive in life’s journey, we need, from a Lord of the Rings perspective, an Aragorn out in front of us, calling out in us what we can’t see. We need a Sam, that friend at our side who carries us when we can’t take another step. And we need a Pippen, someone who really doesn’t yet believe they can do it.
Then, Perry admits, “I’d much rather come off all put together than show my scars.” But showing our scars is the only way to heal our world. Just ask the man who still has scars in his hands, feet, and side.
Next, you can’t have faith without risk. And you can’t have risk without fear. Which means that if the kingdom dream God’s put in your heart is going to become more than a dream, we’re going to have to fall into our fears.
Then, Perry was 19. His life was still dirty. Messy. But he longed to be more than who he was. That’s when Jesus said, “Follow me, I believe in you. I will make you into the man you long to be.”
Last, if you’re going through deep waters right now, and life is so hard, God is at work in you. Writing a song, giving you a message to share after you come out the other side. And when you do share it, “Many will see and fear and put their trust in the Lord.”
