    Today, on Karl and Crew, we kicked off our weekly theme, “Holy Week,” with Dr. Erwin Lutzer and Dr. Hormoz Shariat. Dr. Erwin Lutzer joined us to discuss the seven cries from the cross and what they reveal about Jesus’ mercy, suffering, humanity, and obedience. He also talked about how Christ understands human weakness and how He alone can satisfy our deepest spiritual thirst. Dr. Lutzer is Pastor Emeritus of The Moody Church, where he served as Senior Pastor for 36 years. He is also the featured speaker on “Running to Win” and “Songs in the Night” and is the author of “Cries from the Cross.” Dr. Hormoz Shariat also joined us to discuss what is happening in Iran politically and spiritually, and how many Iranians are turning to Christ in the midst of suffering and persecution. Dr. Shariat is the founder and president of Iran Alive Ministries, which seeks to reach Iranians with the gospel. An Iranian Muslim convert, he has ministered among Muslim-born Iranians for more than 40 years and holds a Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence from the University of Southern California and a B.A. in Bible and Theology from Jessup University. A former independent artist, he transitioned into digital media, where he creates content that bridges biblical wisdom with real-world issues. He is the founder of The God Bless Movement and author of the book “Godly Ambition: Unlocking the Full Potential of Your Time, Talent, and Treasure.” He is also preparing to kick off The Godly Ambition Tour in Chicago on April 10. Through his YouTube channels, Ruslan KD and Bless God Studios, he explores topics such as apologetics, cultural trends, and practical stewardship, inspiring audiences to live with purpose and intentionality. Nick Skytland also joined us to discuss how AI is shaping us and why believers should approach it with a biblical worldview. Nick is Vice President of Gloo Developer and AI Research, leading initiatives to shape open, values-aligned AI that supports human flourishing. Before joining Gloo, he spent more than two decades at NASA as Chief Technologist, advancing early-stage technologies and building some of the largest open innovation communities in history. He co-authored the book “What Comes Next? Shaping the Future in an Ever-Changing World.” Nick was also the co-founder of Quite Uncommon, a technology firm that helped organizations build, test, and launch new and innovative ideas. We then turned to the phone lines to hear from our listeners. Dr. Storms is the founder and president of Enjoying God Ministries and serves on the Council of The Gospel Coalition and as Executive Director of the Convergence Church Network. He also served as Visiting Associate Professor of Theology at Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois, and is a past president of the Evangelical Theological Society. Jason Thacker also joined us to discuss how believers should think about AI through a biblical lens. Jason serves as Assistant Professor of Philosophy and Ethics at Boyce College and Southern Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. He is the author of several books, including “Following Jesus in the Digital Age” and “The Age of AI: Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Humanity.” He was also the project leader and lead drafter of “Artificial Intelligence: An Evangelical Statement of Principles.” He is also a Director of the research institute at The Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission. Dr. Dyer served for thirty-three years on the faculty and in the administration of three different institutions, including twenty years at Dallas Theological Seminary and ten years as Provost of Moody Bible Institute. He is the host of “The Land and the Book” radio program and is a licensed guide who leads groups to Israel and other biblical lands. David Szafranski also joined us to discuss seeing life beyond retirement as a continued calling to live with purpose and serve God. Dr. Grudem serves as Distinguished Research Professor Emeritus of Theology and Biblical Studies at Phoenix Seminary in Arizona. Dr. Dickens is a visionary leader, AI expert, and scholar who has contributed significantly to the intersection of technology, spirituality, and faith-based engagement. His dissertation explored the impact of generative AI on spiritual direction, and he is the founder of the Encountering Peace app and the Encounter Podcast. We also spoke with Greg Dempster about moving away from shame and self-reliance into a deeper trust in God’s love and acceptance. Greg Dempster is the founder and director of ChristLife Ministries. He has served in full-time pastoral ministry for over two decades and has experience as a senior leader, elder, and ministry director.
