#133: We Are Finding Recovery. What Does That Look And Feel Like?

Caller Rachel's Question: "I’ve been in Alanon since 2006, Sanon since 10/26/21. My husband has been sober for almost 4 years. We have been together off and on over 18 years. I’ve heard that addictions can come in three and I was warned early on that I had a long road with my husband. We’ve both grown independently but not together- it’s been really tragic- two people that are supposed to be professing christians and working programs? If God is in center, why arent we coming together? He told our pastor that he has never been faithful to me, does not believe he’s a sex addict. Identifies Alcoholic and drug addict only- now its ACA and his latest plan is to bring it to our town- his CSAT therapist meets him every Saturday to go through ACA book- I’ve moved upstairs and am giving myself a year like my Sanon program suggest- i have sponsor in both programs and am starting step 3 in Sanon- so excited about what lies ahead as God has been so faithful and loving to me! Thanks!"

#132: I Know It’s Right To Let Go Of My Relationship... But How Do I Actually Do It?

Caller LuAnn's Question: "I am having difficulty in letting go. My husband of 7 years was “found out”. He has hooked up with men, online, met 4 different people that have been admitted to me. I’ve forgiven; he acts like he doesn’t think he needs forgiveness. What is wrong with me that I can’t let go!?"

#131: How Do I Stay Out Of Shame When My Partner Needs Me To Just Listen?

Caller Dave's Question: "I attempted to have an affair and was caught. My spouse and I have been working through my addiction recovery and her betrayal trauma recovery. At times she is triggered and talks to me about it to keep communication open and transparent. How do I keep from shaming myself for what I have done to her when she needs me to just listen."

#130: Does Addiction Increase The Intensity Of Abuse?

#130: Does Addiction Increase The Intensity Of Abuse?

Caller Adriene's Question: "This question is for your last podcast regarding what works and doesn’t work in betrayal trauma recovery. I do agree with everything that was said in there. However, as someone who has been through betrayal trauma, addiction with her spouse, and abuse with her spouse I just wish the abuse part could be validated a little bit more. I agree that the abuse model can keep us stuck so we need to change up the model a little bit. However, once I learned about abuse and put a name to what I was experiencing that was when full healing began and I stopped being the fantasy wife for my husband and really upped my safety and boundaries. That’s actually what made him want to change. When we just focused on the addiction it ended up feeding his entitlement and integrity problems. So in my opinion knowing about the emotional and psychological abuse of an addict changes everything. At least it did for me. do you think that addiction and abuse are two separate things but that addiction can exaggerate abuse tenfold?"

#128: Does Will Smith Lack Masculinity?

#128: Does Will Smith Lack Masculinity?

With the recent ridiculous scene from the Oscars, Tyler and Brannon break down the absurdity and talk about where toxic masculinity was showcased instead of real masculinity.

Audio is lagging

LOVE the podcast. I have noticed on a few episodes there has been an echo which is very distracting.

I swear Adrienne is me

I’m still in the middle of listening, but I had to pause and tell you 3 how much this IS me! Thank you Adrienne for putting 25 years of my life into such a great and helpful way. I love this podcast. Betrayed and Addicted and Expert podcast was the beginning for me to say no more. That I’m not crazy and this relationship was not normal! I also learned that God doesn’t expect me to my happiness and self respect to stay married. Thank you for doing that one and creating something I can continue listening to for this phase ❤️I recommend both podcasts ( even though BAE ended it taught me so much) to everyone that I think can benefit. Which is a lot😊

This one spoke to me. I felt like I was listening to my own issues. This podcast has helped me more that any therapy I’ve ever been in and I’ve only listened to a handful of episodes. Lifetime listener here.
