Once I read an article with Olivia Wilde where she said before she met her then partner, Jason Sudeikis, that she thought her vagina was dead. I felt the same way about my ears from the years of listening to true crime podcasts that were either boring or tried too hard to be funny or quirky. After reading a (downvoted) rant on Reddit about how “disrespectful and immature” this podcast is, I decided to give it a listen (always the contrarian) and I’m so glad I did! These girls are hysterical, but not at all disrespectful. Being able to laugh when discussing horrible things doesn’t make the things less horrible, it makes us human. This podcast is actually very victim centered if you give it more than a surface level listen. As multiple people have said, I feel like they are friends at this point, and I also appreciate that they do less commonly known cases on top of the bigger ones. One thing that I love about this show is that unlike other two person podcasts I’ve listened to, the person not telling the story doesn’t just interject with “What., Creepy!, Cute!, Oh my God!” just to have something to say. That annoys me to no end and here they have actual conversing as opposed to the second person feeling like they have to earn their keep by saying just anything they can. Give this pod a listen and you’ll probably know right away if it’s one for you; I literally became a Patron in the middle of the first episode I ever listened to.
