Who gets to compete? Since the beginning of women’s sports, there has been a struggle over who qualifies for the women’s category. Tested follows the unfolding story of elite female runners who have been told they can no longer race as women, because of their biology. As the Olympics approach, they face hard choices: take drugs to lower their natural testosterone levels, give up their sport entirely, or fight. To understand how we got here, Host Rose Eveleth (they/them) traces the surprising, 100-year history of sex testing.

A must listen

If you are a human…and enjoy sports…this podcast is taking on a very difficult topic and presenting a balanced view.
Disingenuous or just deluded
Apr 14
Why are women are the ones tested?? It’s because men try to compete against them to cheat. I wish I got paid to travel for nonsense.
If you think women can have testes…

…then this will likely be a 5-star podcast for you. If you don’t you’ll likely find it incomplete.
EXCELLENT
Feb 20
I reluctantly began this podcast because I was out of anything that interested me. So glad I did. SO interesting. EVERY woman should listen to this. So informative, well done, well balanced and unbiased. Just perfect.
Great reporting

Fantastic story, told spectacularly. I highly recommend it to everyone. My book club is listening to it this month for our “book”!
Topic that needs more exposure
Feb 5
This topic needs more press. Lots of history, interviews and individual stories that help give perspective to the topic. Frankly, It’s unbelievable that track and field, among other sports, has rules that exclude certain people from competing unless they change their natural biology. Everyone should have an opportunity to compete without being required to have surgeries or take hormone suppressing drugs.
It’s missing interviews with female athletes that support the policy
12/18/2024
What’s their point of view? It appears to try to pin it out on out of touch men, but I’m sure there’s plenty of women athletes that support the policy and set in motion the tests.
Bias, but informative
11/25/2024
Just another example of “investigative” journalism that explores data and conducts interviews that support a certain narrative while ignoring the rest. Recommended for those with a high tolerance for fluttery, high pitched narrators.
Biased garbage
12/04/2024
It’s trans propaganda sponsored by npr. There are only two genders.
Science and biology are real!

KEEP WOMEN’S SPORTS FEMALE Open your eyes!! Testing 🙄
