Church Hurt & Diet Culture in Safe Spaces with Leslie Schilling, RD
More people are talking about "church hurt" or "religious trauma" with regard to sexual sins and abuses of power. But no one seems to be talking about how churches and faith leaders have affected our relationship with food and our bodies. In my interview with dietitian and Christian, Leslie Schilling, we discuss the difficult topic of how diet culture (& the harms that come with it) have infiltrated even the safest of spaces, like churches, faith communities, medical offices, and loved ones.

58- How to Raise Body Positive Children with Leslie Bloch and Zoe Bisbing of the Full Bloom Project
Is it possible to raise children who have a neutral relationship with their bodies? Is it possible to raise children who don't define their self-worth with how they look? How can we raise the next generation of children to look beyond appearances?
Well, this week, I talk with the ladies behind the Full Bloom Project, Leslie Bloch and Zoe Bisbing. Their mission is to equip parents with facts and weight science to better nurture children's growing body so that children can fully bloom into who they were created to be.
In this interview, we discuss:

Great topics! Real information everyone can use!
As a person who has been healed from bulimia for over 30 years and a licensed professional counselor, I was impressed by the topics and viewpoints covered in these episodes. It truly isn’t about the food and diets don’t work. It is all about finding self love, self acceptance and connecting with your true self and intuition.
Nope
Social justice is a political issue. Your white privilege is showing with the ability to “bow out.” Caroline is a conspiracy theorist, she was “cancelled” because of her behavior and her response to people who called her out for sharing misinformation, anti-semitism and transphobia.
Not informative
I came across this podcast as I’ve been trying to learn about intuitive eating. I listened to 3 episodes, one entitled “What is intuitive eating?” And I still couldn’t tell you the answer. In 50 minutes I learned that it’s a framework with 10 principles, but they never discussed the framework or the 10 principles. I then listened to 2 episodes about the role control plays in disordered eating and the sun total of advice given was instead of trying to control your world through food and dieting, control it through changing your hair and clothing, rearranging your furniture or changing your circle of friends. 80 minutes of my life I’ll never get back
