Show for self care!

I was struggling with a lot of overwhelm of my everyday life when I found this show. I am a mom of 2 boys under 2 and the sole income of the household, as we choose to have my husband be a stay at home dad. I work as nurse so some days I am gone for 12-14 hours, 3-4 days a week. Oh, and going to school part time online to finish up my BSN. Like I said, a LOT of overwhelm. These are things I HAD to do though, school, work, and being a mom, they weren’t optional for me. Everything else I was saying yes to, however, was optional. And I was saying yes to EVERYTHING. To unnecessary worry, stress, and anxiety. One of the most valuable lessons I have learned and started practicing from the show is saying NO. No to anything that took away from my free time with my family, no to anything that added extra stress or worry to my life, and no to things that did not have a purpose or move me closer in school, work, or moming. For me this meant deleting my facebook, jumping into a new job with more opportunities, and a new hobby, running!, to clear my head and give me the mental break I needed from all the things. My goal is no longer to carry the busy working mom badge, but to GSD so that I have mental, physical, and financial capabilities to be the best mom, wife, and INDIVIDUAL that I can be. Self care was the biggest and most important thing missing from my life and this show was the first step to adding that in. I now feel like I am capable of anything and have removed all the mental limits I was putting on myself. I can’t wait to see where I am a year from now as I continue to learn and practice the wonderful tips and tricks from the show!

Every mom needs Sara Dean in thier life!

In July of 2018 I was a year into motherhood and felt stuck, overwhelmed and unhappy. I had spent my entire adult life climbing the corporate ladder, then got laid off in April 2016, then got pregnant and became a SAHM. I was in the middle of a major identity crisis and struggling with whether or not I wanted to go back to work, because SAHM life was not working. I knew I needed to insert joy in my life and I had a friend that recommended the SMA podcast. I had never listened to a podcast before, and oh my word, Sara Dean rocked my world in the best possible way. I was binge listening to her whenever I could; in the car, in the shower, getting ready for the day, anytime I had a few minutes to myself. Car time became SMA time and that's when my life started to change. Her content was so freakily timed that I felt like she was in my head. Her content is insightful, uplifting and seriously helps you live a bigger, bolder, braver life.

I began doing consulting and decided I needed a coach, so I hired Sara. She was the exact same warm, authentic and inspiring person when I met her on our initial Zoom call. My gut said, hell yes hire her! Doing so also got me into Momentum Mamas which was just icing on the cake! The women in the MM community have become dear friends even though I've never met them in person. The amount of growth that has happened in my personal and professional life since I hired Sara in October 2018 has been astronomical. It's also trickled over into my husband reaping the benefits from what I learn from Sara and the MM, that he's joined me on this personal growth journey. Here are just a few things that have shaped my life for the better since Sara and the SMA came into my life:
*I started a consulting business that has replaced half of my husband's income in 9 months.
*I ran a freaking marathon!
*I took a break from alcohol for 30 days and redefined my relationship with it
*I am a more present and patient mother
*I feel in control of my life
*I have a community of women that I can lean on and gain wisdom from
*I celebrate wins no matter how small
*I take imperfect action #everydamnday - she helped show me the way in creating momentum in my life and how to get out of my own way
*I get up before my family to journal, meditate and workout. It makes me feel like a superhero.
*I've shared secrets with Sara and the MM in a safe place and recieved overwhelming support. A huge weight was lifted when I spoke my truth and did not recieve judgement, just love and acceptance.
*My husband has joined me on this growth journey.
*I dream big scary dreams and ask myself 'what if' constantly - AND I don't question whether or not I can do it
*My relationships with my immediate family are the best they've ever been in my adult life.

Thank you, Sara, for your wisdom, kind spirit, inclusive community and kickass content that has benefited my life in more ways that I can describe. You are a treasure and I'm so grateful to have you in my life.

How does she know?

I’ve been listening to Sara’s podcast for a year and a half- since I became a new mother. I’ve listened to every single episode and I feel like somehow Sara has become a friend to me that is always there to give me a pep talk when I need one. I stayed at home with my baby for the first nine months and I listened to the podcast while I was breastfeeding, changing diapers, desperately trying to figure out what my new identity was as a new mom. Her voice and words were a comfort to me then and now that I’ve transitioned back into work outside the home Sara has come with me and I now I listen to her at my desk. And even beyond the podcast, Sara’s email newsletters somehow always hit the nail on the head and seem to tell me exactly what I need to hear. Her messages are so inspiring and truly have helped me become a more courageous and shameless mother. Thanks Sara!
