It’s hard not to relate to John Kolbaska’s story from Men With Tools. As he puts it, “I'm your typical story of a contractor that puts a tool belt on and worked out of a van and grew a business.”

What’s unusual, though, is how quickly John has grown his home improvement business in just the past two years.

If you’re trying to figure out how to grow your profits in your own home improvement or home services business so that you can create real wealth for yourself and your family, you’ll want to listen to John’s story closely.

Get ready to take some notes, and pay close attention to the way that John made a decision to shift his business and never look back. It makes you think, what can you do today to set yourself on a successful path that you’ll thank yourself for in two years?

John O’Leary’s story is similar to so many business owners in the home improvement industry. He was a great installer who went into business for himself, creating O’Leary Roofing in 2008. Oftentimes, that transition can be a rocky one! And while John shares that he has had some challenges, he has found success by realizing that he couldn’t do it all himself.

If you’ve been stuck at the same revenue or profit goal, get ready to take some notes. This episode will help shine a light on how to break free from the limitations you put on yourself of thinking you have to do it all.

On the podcast today, you are getting a DEAL. You’re not just going to hear one perspective on success. You’re going to hear from THREE different people who each have some insights that you can benefit from right now. (And it was all recorded while we shared a cocktail at this year’s Accelerate LIVE! in Fort Lauderdale.)

You’ll first hear from Ger Ronan with Yankee Home who has majorly restructured his business the past three years to set himself up to be semi-retired.

On the other end of the spectrum, you’ll hear from Arodi Vela who is just starting out in the business, but who takes “success leaves clues” seriously.

And lastly, Shawn Feurer joins us, and he helps bridge the gap between these two stories by sharing that your mindset is what’s going to help take you to where you want to be.

I hope these casual conversations are not just a fun listen, but that you also get some takeaways about where you’re headed in this business.

As entrepreneurs, we’re known for waiting too long to worry about profitability. On today’s episode of the podcast, you’ll hear leadership guru, Ed Eppley, talk about why doing that is such a big mistake for today’s business owners – in any industry.

During the podcast, he talks about the two types of businesses that came out of 2020 – the “Tomb” and the “Boom” and what both types can expect in 2021. As you listen, it’s important to keep in mind that this is not a discussion about doom and gloom – it’s a discussion about opportunity.

This is a great conversation to have where we are right now – in the first quarter of 2021. But Ed also shares his predictions for the rest of the year, so you’ll want to listen closely. I wish I had known him 30 years ago to avoid some of the mistakes I’ve made!

A Game Changer

This is the best podcast I have listened to yet. We are a small woman owned painting company in South Carolina. We started out painting in 2018 as a side gig to help provide for our 6 teenage kids. A side gig turned into a full time business. In November of 2019 we gave up our full time careers and launched Littledell Painting. Since March the exponential growth in business has grown our team from two to ten in three months. This podcast has been our guide to figure it all out sooner rather than later. Your wisdom and that of others has been a game changer in our approach to build this business.
