Helping Healthcare Heros with the FIGS CEOs

Helping Healthcare Heros with the FIGS CEOs

There are no scrubs out there better than FIGS, and today your hosts are joined by Heather and Trina, the CEOs of FIGS Scrubs, to discuss their company and its mission to inspire healthcare professionals. They want to live in a world with more healthcare heroes, scientists, and tech advancements, and their goal is to support these people in the best way they know how. Heather and Trina disrupted the existing and lackluster scrubs market, creating apparel for all healthcare workers to feel their most comfortable and confident. They discuss what they did during the pandemic to help healthcare workers, how the colors and drops come about, and play a raid fire questionnaire to get to know them a bit more. They are the first 2 co-founders to make a company public, so everyone can stand behind healthcare professionals. This is an emotional and inspiring conversation you don’t want to miss.

Fertility and Freezing Your Eggs with Whitney Bischoff Angel

Fertility and Freezing Your Eggs with Whitney Bischoff Angel

This week your hosts sit down with one of the most knowledgeable fertility nurses: Bachelor Nation alumna Whitney Bischoff Angel, who specializes in fertility preservation at Ova Egg Freezing in Chicago! She discusses how she got into fertility as it's not something they touched on in nursing school, the top questions she gets asked, and walks us through a day in the life as a fertility nurse. Danielle also opens up about her experience going through the full panel of testing. Whitney discusses the egg harvesting process, including what exactly that is, what you need to know to be prepared, and what happens during the actual day of retrieval. She also shares some important questions you can ask when advocating for yourself and finding the right place for you. Whitney believes that education and management of expectations with egg freezing is key, so whether you’re a nurse looking for exciting opportunities outside of the hospital or someone interested in freezing your eggs, we hope you come away from this conversation with some newfound insight!

WoMed Reunion with New Mama Danielle LeVeck, DNP, ACNP/CNS

WoMed Reunion with New Mama Danielle LeVeck, DNP, ACNP/CNS

Offering an honest conversation about new motherhood, former WoMed co-host Danielle LeVeck joins D and Jackie to talk about everything she’s experiencing, from the pain to the exhaustion and everything in between. She discusses breastfeeding, induced labor, c-sections, and vaginal labor, and the feelings and fear that come along with each. Dani gets honest about judging other parents as well as the reality of having to help one another and extend support until there is systemic change that better supports new parents in the workplace. The three then discuss maternity and paternity leave, what needs to change there, and how Dani feels about going back to work. Dani also opens up about what she didn’t expect about motherhood and the ways in which her practice may change as a result. The 4th trimester is often suffered in silence, and this episode pulls back the curtain as we get to catch up with Dani and her sweet baby boy - the first official male guest on The WoMed!
