  1. The Link Between Pelvic Congestion Syndrome and Endometriosis with Dr Alexis Cutchins

The Link Between Pelvic Congestion Syndrome and Endometriosis with Dr Alexis Cutchins

Today’s episode is with Dr Alexis Cutchins and we’re talking all about pelvic congestion syndrome (or pelvic venous disease as it’s also known as) and its connection to endometriosis, POTS, MCAS and Hypermobility Spectrum Disorders. Dr Cutchins is a board certified cardiologist with a passion for caring for patients with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome, Mast Cell Activation Syndrome and Hypermobility Spectrum Disorders. After 13 years as Assistant Professor of Medicine in the division of Cardiology at Emory University she became founder and CEO of Cutchins Cardiovascular Medicine in New York City. She has been recognized globally for her clinical excellence in the care and management of patients with complex chronic illness, specifically, POTS, Dysautonomia and Long COVID. She is also known for her research contributions in this area specifically related to POTS and its comorbid conditions highlighting the role of Pelvic Venous Disease in Orthostatic Intolerance. She serves as a board member for the International Society for Mast Cell Activation Syndromes (ISMCAS), Standing Up To POTS, and SAFIRE (Spencer’s Association For Interventional Research & Education) a nonprofit organisation advocating for care and research for underdiagnosed syndromes such as POTS, Pelvic Venous Disease and others. Pelvic congestion syndrome can manifest as symptoms very similar to endo, so it’s often not investigated in our demographic, despite it being very common in our community. So today Dr Cutchins is being our advocate and sharing the symptoms, how to get diagnosed and what tests to ask for, and the treatment options available to us. If you have daily chronic pelvic pain, or leg pain, or you suspect or know you have POTS, HSD or hEDS or MCAS, this is worth a listen. Optimising Fertility with Endo with Dr Lizzie Alexander

Today’s episode is with Dr Lizzie Alexander (PhD), an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach (who is also currently training as a Naturopath & Nutritionist) specialising in endometriosis and fertility. After 25 years of undiagnosed endo, chronic pain, and her own fertility struggles, Lizzie found healing through working with a naturopath in New Zealand and embracing functional nutrition. She became a mother at 39 and is currently navigating secondary infertility and IVF herself. What’s so special about Lizzie’s work is that she is not only an expert through training, but also through lived experience. She uses this incredible wealth of knowledge to help women with endometriosis reclaim their health and build the families they dream of through evidence-based nutrition, personalised protocols, and compassionate guidance. In today’s episode we’re discussing the stats behind endo and fertility, the challenges people with endo can come up against with fertility and the core foundations for supporting both natural and assisted fertility journeys. 4. The Latest Research on the Elemental Diet for SIBO with mBiota CEO Nicola Wodlinger

    MAR 14

The Latest Research on the Elemental Diet for SIBO with mBiota CEO Nicola Wodlinger

Today I am talking to Nicola Wodlinger, CEO of mBIOTA, the founders of the mBIOTA Elemental diet, which is a treatment I use with many of my SIBO clients but is also a treatment for other gastrointestinal conditions such as IBS and Crohn’s. The elemental diet is notoriously bad tasting, so the founders of mBIOTA set out to create an elemental diet that was both clinically effective for treating SIBO whilst also being palatable enough for patients to actually finish the treatment, which has been a challenge historically. They are also investing into research and have found some incredible effects of mBIOTA for SIBO and even candida. So today, Nicola and I are discussing what the elemental diet is and why it’s used for SIBO treatment, the effectiveness of the elemental diet and what their research has found (which is fascinating, btw), challenges of the elemental diet and how to overcome them, and how to transition off the formula, which is a point of confusion for many SIBO-ers. So, if you struggle with SIBO, IBS or you have endo belly and you’re wondering what could be behind it, I really recommend tuning into this conversation! Oh and also, I just had to share this, mBIOTA is an entirely female led and staffed company, which I thought was pretty cool and many of you would appreciate!
