Why Are We Waiting Until We're Empty to Practice Self-Care?

How many of us wait until our internal checking accounts are completely over drafted before we finally grant ourselves permission to practice self-care? In this episode, I dive deep into why we must break the exhausting cycle of over-giving and stop treating self-care as an emergency response to depletion. By stepping out of my normal routine and reflecting on how misalignment in relationships, environments, and jobs sucks the life out of us, I realized that our energy requires a completely different kind of investment strategy in our 50s. We have a limited number of summers left, and it is time to stop pouring our precious time into people, places, and situations that offer absolutely no return. Supported by the current astrological transits, this is your cosmic green light to move into a more authentic version of yourself and finally prioritize what truly feeds your soul before you hit empty. Episode Highlights: * The Overdraft Cycle: Why treating self-care as a post-depletion rescue mission keeps us starting from a deficit, and how to get ahead of the cycle. * Investing in Your 50s: Shifting our mindset from the slow-growth investments of our 20s to fiercely protecting our limited time and energy. * Astrological Support for Authenticity: How the current planetary energy is giving us the wind in our sails to let go of what drains us and speak our true needs. Where are you currently over-giving, and how can you shift self-care to the top of your list today? Get full access to Tracy Talks at tracytalks.substack.com/subscribe

My New Best Friend And The Broken Washer And Dryer

🧺 “I’m Not Your Mom, and I’m Not Your Maintenance Man.” Yeah, I’m talking about this again. Because honestly, the universe keeps dropping the evidence right in front of me. I went away for a few days to relax, pack light, and get some space. Instead, a hotel laundry room reminded me exactly why I got divorced. There is a very specific percentage of the population—let’s just call it what it is: men—who simply refuse to address issues, fix things, or act competent. Here is the breakdown of my vacation laundry saga: * Man #1 & Man #2: Both made casual comments to me like, “Yeah, that machine doesn’t work,” or “That dryer never shuts off (a literal fire hazard).” * Man #3: Presumably the one who jammed the quarter tray in the first place and just walked away. The bar was so low. None of these men actually had to fix the machines themselves. All they had to do was walk their behinds to the front desk and report it. But instead? They chose to ignore the problem and wait for someone else—historically, a woman—to deal with it. 🚫 The “Helpful” Competence Cap I know this type of person inside and out. The moment a minor inconvenience happens, they suddenly lose all capacity to know what to do. It’s weaponized incompetence at its finest, and I spent a whole marriage dealing with it. Yes, I went to the front desk, talked to my new best friend and got the issues resolved, because I was on vacation and needed clean clothes! But let me be crystal clear: I will handle it for myself, but I am never doing it again in a romantic relationship. I am looking for a partner, not a son. If you see a problem, step up and handle it. It really is that simple. 🎧 The latest episode of Tracy Talks is live. 4. What's Your Superpower?

    What's Your Superpower?

🦸‍♀️ What’s Your Superpower? | New Episode of Tracy Talks 🎧 We’ve all heard the phrase “it takes a village,” but have you ever stopped to look at the unique, built-in “superpowers” within you? In the latest episode of Tracy Talks, Tracy reflects on a recent conversation with her sisters about a tough transition: helping our aging parents adapt to changing mobility. While dealing with the resistance and embarrassment that can come with decluttering and rearranging a lifetime of memories, a realization hit me. 🧩 We Don’t All Need the Same Strengths Organizing and logistics happen to be a superpower for me and one of my sisters. We can walk into a chaotic space, see exactly what needs to change to make life safer, and get to work. But that isn’t everyone’s superpower—and it shouldn’t have to be. “The things that I can’t do, somebody else can do. And that fills in the gaps so I can do my superpower.” ✨ The Power of Filling the Gaps True magic happens when we stop expecting the people around us to have the exact same skill set we do. When we come together and recognize that each person has innate, distinct value: * No judgment, no shaming. * We celebrate what each person brings to the table. * We fill in the gaps for one another when the path gets unpaved and messy. Whether you are navigating family transitions, building a business, or just trying to support a friend who is wandering through a tough season—remember that you don’t have to do it all. You just need to show up with your unique strength and let others lean into theirs. Get full access to Tracy Talks at tracytalks.substack.com/subscribe

    The Power of Your Surroundings

Are you feeling a little heavy, tired, or stuck in a routine lately? 🪵✨ In this week’s episode of Tracy Talks, I’m talking about how the smallest, simplest changes in our environment can completely shift the energy of our day. It started with a tiny adjustment on my covered porch—just moving a bench from under the coat hooks to beneath the window. Suddenly, the doorway felt less obstructed, the space felt open, and the whole vibe transformed. When the world feels like too much, it’s easy to forget that we do have power over how we feel. And a lot of that starts right at home, by turning our surroundings into a haven. Here is your challenge for the week: * Shift the small stuff: Swap your picture frames around or print out a few recent photos to replace the ones that have been there for years. * Run a little experiment: Don’t say a word to anyone in your house. See who notices the change! (Hint: The “little people” in your life are usually the first ones to spot it!) Our environments impact our peace. If you’re ready to shake up your space and invite some new life, excitement, and possibility back into your routine, tune in to the latest episode! 🎧 👇 Drop a comment below: What is one tiny thing you can move in your house today to refresh your energy? From questioning the intense push for hormone replacement therapy to discussing the reality behind "gray divorce," this conversation is a rallying cry for women to finally prioritize themselves. Tracy gets candid about her own journey as a cancer survivor and why she is fiercely protecting her peace and declining the expectation to play savior. Tune in to hear why midlife is the ultimate season for shedding societal conditioning and listening to what your body actually needs!🌟 Episode HighlightsDitching the "Perfect" Production: Tracy takes her microphone outside, choosing the natural rustle of the wind and cornfields over an artificial, overproduced studio setting because "real life isn't completely edited out."The Myth of Needing More Energy: Rejecting the pressure to fight Mother Nature, Tracy challenges the narrative surrounding midlife, arguing that decreased energy is actually a natural boundary against taking care of everyone else.Prioritizing the Self at Midlife: A fierce declaration of independence from the expectations of managing households, husbands, and adult children, shifting the focus entirely to self-care, personal capacity, and inner guidance. This podcast in intended for entertainment purposes only.
