    132. You Know Better…So Why Aren't You Doing Better?

You know alcohol isn't helping you. You've read the books, listened to the podcasts, maybe even taken a few breaks from drinking. So why do you keep going back? In this episode of Unbottled Potential, I'm answering a listener question that I know so many intelligent, self-aware women wrestle with: If I know better, why am I not doing better? The problem is that changing your relationship with alcohol isn't simply an information problem. You can know everything there is to know about alcohol and still find yourself reaching for it because drinking has been doing a job for you—helping you escape emotional overwhelm, boredom, social discomfort, or feelings you haven't yet learned how to navigate differently. And when you focus only on removing alcohol without addressing what's underneath it, sobriety can feel like taking away your escape hatch without giving yourself another way out. In this episode, we talk about: Why highly intelligent women can get stuck trying to think their way out of drinking The difference between knowing information and actually actualizing it The "action under the action" that most sobriety challenges overlook What alcohol may actually be helping you avoid, manage, or achieve Why shame, fear, and a list of reasons you should stop drinking rarely create lasting change How finding an aspirational, deeply personal why can make alcohol-free living feel expansive instead of restrictive Why becoming someone who no longer needs alcohol requires more than simply practicing abstinence I'm also sharing details about the return of the Unbottled Potential Challenge this Sober October. We'll work through the Bottled Up Brilliance inquiry from Unbottled Potential together so you can examine your relationship with alcohol, get honest about what it's costing you, and begin building a life where alcohol no longer feels necessary. 131. Who Am I Now? Navigating Identity Shifts Without Alcohol

What happens when the people, roles, and routines that have needed you for years suddenly… don't need you quite so much? In this first installment of a new coaching-style segment on Unbottled Potential, I'm answering a question I've been hearing from women again and again: I have more space in my life now, I can feel there's a bigger version of me waiting—but I don't know who she is, and I don't know how to find her while I'm still drinking every night. Whether you're becoming an empty nester, changing careers, setting new boundaries, becoming an entrepreneur, or simply stepping into the identity of a non-drinker, transitions can leave behind an uncomfortable amount of spaciousness. And when alcohol has been your reward, your "me time," your social life, or your way of shutting everything off at the end of the day, that space can feel especially unsettling. In this episode, we explore: Why identity shifts can make drinking feel more appealing, not less What might actually be underneath your nightly glass of wine Why women who have spent years orienting around everyone else can struggle to answer, "What do I want?" My extremely sophisticated theory that you are, in fact, a glorified houseplant The basic practices that can help you reconnect with yourself Why you may need actual hobbies again—and preferably some analog ones My personal rule of "fiction after 5:00" How creativity, curiosity, and spaciousness begin opening the door to your intuition Why the dream you can imagine for yourself right now may be much smaller than what becomes possible without alcohol You don't need to immediately know what your next chapter looks like. Your first job is simply to create enough space to become curious about it. Have a question you'd like me to coach on the podcast? Submit it at amandakuda.com/askamanda. Questions used on the show will remain anonymous. 130. My Wildest Take On Sobriety (An Intimate Look BTS)

For nearly six years, I've been teaching the intersection of alcohol-free living and spiritual growth. More than a thousand women have come through my programs, but today I'm doing something I've never done before. I'm taking you inside my signature program, Stop Drinking, Start Manifesting. This episode begins with a behind-the-scenes conversation about why I created the program in the first place. When I stopped drinking, I couldn't find anything that reflected the way I saw the world. I wasn't looking for scare tactics or shame. I wasn't looking for endless meetings or labels that didn't resonate with me. I wanted something intellectually rich, spiritually grounded, and deeply practical. So I built it. After the introduction, you'll hear the original orientation from the program itself, where I explain the three-part framework that has guided hundreds of women through transforming not only their relationship with alcohol, but their relationship with themselves. If you've ever wondered what actually happens inside Stop Drinking, Start Manifesting, this episode will give you a front-row seat. In this episode we explore: Why traditional sobriety resources didn't resonate with me The missing connection between alcohol and spiritual growth The three-part framework behind Stop Drinking, Start Manifesting Why I recommend a 90-day alcohol-free commitment How spirituality becomes practical instead of performative What manifestation actually means (and what it doesn't) Why removing alcohol changes your relationship with intuition The mindset shift that makes sobriety feel expansive instead of restrictive If this episode speaks to you, I'd love to welcome you inside Stop Drinking, Start Manifesting. 129. 3 Myths About Finding Your Purpose in Sobriety

Many women expect life to settle down once alcohol is out of the picture. Instead, something unexpected starts happening. You begin questioning the career you've built. The friendships you've maintained. The roles you've accepted. The version of success you once worked so hard to achieve. In this episode, Amanda explains why this isn't a crisis—it's often the natural next phase of an alcohol-free life. Drawing on Gay Hendricks' concept of the Zone of Genius, she explores why high-achieving women often become trapped on what she calls the "plateau of good enough"—a life that looks successful from the outside but no longer feels fully aligned. She also challenges three common myths that keep women stuck when they're ready for their next evolution, offering a more grounded, sustainable path toward meaningful work and authentic self-expression. In this episode you'll hear: Why career restlessness often shows up several years into an alcohol-free life How alcohol isn't the only system we eventually outgrow The difference between your Zone of Excellence and your Zone of Genius Why your current career may be funding your future instead of preventing it The myth of "jump and the net will appear" Why your purpose probably won't arrive in a perfectly packaged certification How curiosity—not certainty—is often the first step toward your next chapter If you've been feeling a quiet pull toward something bigger but can't quite explain it yet, this conversation is for you. 128. Why Taking Breaks From Alcohol Might Be Keeping You Stuck

What if all those breaks you've taken from alcohol weren't actually giving your body enough time to experience what sobriety really feels like? After a recent reel on cumulative versus consecutive sobriety sparked a huge conversation online, Amanda decided it deserved a deeper conversation. In this episode, she explains why drinking less isn't necessarily the same as healing—and introduces the funnel analogy that's helping women finally understand why they can feel "stuck" even after months of taking breaks from alcohol. If you've ever wondered why Dry January, Sober October, or taking a week off each month hasn't created the transformation you were hoping for, this episode will completely reframe how you think about sobriety. In this episode, Amanda explores: The difference between cumulative sobriety and consecutive sobriety Why short breaks often aren't long enough to experience alcohol's full absence The funnel analogy that explains lingering effects in a simple way Why most women quit before they ever reach the point where real changes begin The emotional recovery that has to happen alongside the physical recovery Why resilience—not willpower—is ultimately what makes alcohol become insignificant If this episode resonates, share it with a friend who's been wondering whether taking "another break" is enough. 127. Sacred Subtraction: The Boundaries That Make Your Biggest Life Possible

Have you ever noticed that removing alcohol doesn't automatically make life feel lighter? Sometimes sobriety simply gives you enough clarity to see everything else you've outgrown. If you've spent years being the dependable one, the helper, the high achiever, or the woman who says yes before she checks in with herself, there's a good chance your calendar—and your identity—are carrying far more than your soul was ever meant to. In this episode, I'm sharing a behind-the-scenes workshop from one of my private mastermind sessions on a practice I call Sacred Subtraction. Instead of asking, "What should I add to become my best self?" this process asks a far more powerful question: What needs to be released so the real you finally has room to emerge? Inside this episode, we'll explore: Why ambitious women often confuse busyness with purpose How alcohol can keep us comfortably stuck in lives we've already outgrown The difference between your Zone of Competence, Excellence, and Genius A simple audit to uncover where your time and energy are actually going How to decide what to delete, delegate, or defer Why saying "no" is often one of the most spiritual things you can do If you're alcohol-free—or even just beginning to question your relationship with alcohol—this conversation will help you create space for the version of yourself that's been waiting underneath all the obligations. Resources Mentioned DM me the word SUBTRACTION on Instagram and I'll send you the Sacred Subtraction worksheet used in this workshop. Interested in working together? 126. What if alcohol is just a distraction?

Are you fighting the wrong battle? Most people think their biggest obstacle is alcohol. But what if alcohol is just the distraction? In this week's episode, Amanda shares a coaching conversation that revealed something much deeper: after alcohol is no longer running the show, many of us simply replace it with another distraction. The real work isn't just breaking the compulsion. It's learning what that compulsion was trying to do for you...and what it has been keeping you from all along. In this episode you'll learn: Why compulsions don't disappear—they often just change costumes. The three questions Amanda asks clients when they're feeling stuck. What alcohol was actually helping you achieve. How to build the skills alcohol temporarily replaced. Why your biggest distraction may actually be protecting you from your own greatness. How reclaiming your time and energy creates space for purpose, fulfillment, and manifestation. If you've already made progress with alcohol—or you know you're meant for something bigger but can't seem to move toward it—this episode will help you identify what's really standing in your way. 125. You're Not Addicted...So Why Is It So Hard To Stop Drinking?

If you've ever Googled "Am I an alcoholic?" only to feel relieved...and somehow even more confused...this episode is for you. Because maybe you don't fit the traditional definition of addiction. Maybe you've taken breaks before. Maybe you've done Dry January. Maybe you tell yourself you'll only drink on weekends. And yet somehow alcohol keeps finding its way back into your life. The problem isn't that you're powerless. The problem is that we've never been given language for everything that exists between casual drinking and alcoholism. In this episode, Amanda introduces a framework that may completely change how you understand your relationship with alcohol. Instead of asking whether you're addicted, she explores the progression from ritual...to habit...to coping mechanism...to compulsion—and why so many high-achieving women find themselves stuck there. You'll walk away with a new way to understand why alcohol can feel so difficult to leave behind, even when you know it no longer fits the life you're trying to build. In this episode you'll learn: Why the "Am I an alcoholic?" question often misses the point The difference between rituals, habits, coping mechanisms and compulsions Why alcohol can become emotionally sticky without becoming an addiction How compulsions are designed to temporarily relieve anxiety while ultimately making it worse The surprising truth about what alcohol may actually be helping you avoid Why meaningful sobriety isn't just about removing alcohol—it's about building a life where alcohol becomes irrelevant If this episode resonated with you, I'd love to hear what part of the spectrum you recognized yourself in.
