Kat & Steve - how we unstuck ourselves

Steve and I share the process we both come back to whenever we find ourselves stuck. Whether it's our health, our relationship, our business, money, or life in general, we've found that getting unstuck isn't usually about finding the perfect answer. It's about being willing to face the truth. The first thing we do is face reality. Not the reality we wish we were living, but the one we're actually in. We look honestly at what's hurting, what's frustrating us, what's not working, and where we might be contributing to our own stuckness. It's not always comfortable, but we've learned that pretending, avoiding, blaming, or wishing things were different only keeps us exactly where we are. Once we've acknowledged reality, we ask ourselves a simple question: What would I prefer instead? What kind of relationship do I want to be in? What kind of health do I want to experience? What kind of business, finances, or life do I want to create? Rather than focusing on what's wrong, we start getting clear on where we'd like to head. From there, we look for the next best step. Not the entire roadmap. Not the next twelve months. Just the next step that moves us a little closer to where we'd like to be. But here's where it gets interesting. The practical steps are rarely the hardest part. The hardest part is managing the stories that show up the moment we decide to move. The sabotage brigade arrives. The voice that says it's too late, too hard, too risky, or that nothing will change anyway. The stories that tell us we'll fail, look foolish, waste our time, or end up right back where we started. In our experience, getting unstuck isn't really about motivation. It's about learning how to recognise those stories without handing them the steering wheel. This conversation is about facing reality, creating a vision for something better, and taking one step at a time. Because being stuck isn't the problem. The problem is believing the stories that convince you to stay there. 1:1 COACHING One-time 75 minute coaching call - secure your spot here Read my book, Authentic - coming home to your true self - AUS, EUR, USA Write into us - let us know what you want to hear WelleCo - use code KAT15 for 15% off welleco.com.au www.katjohn.com.au Support the show

Kat & Steve - Accepting reality even when it sucks

Steve and I talk about a phrase we come back to often: This too shall pass. Not as a way to dismiss what we're feeling or to bypass the hard stuff. But as a reminder that life is always moving, changing, shifting, and unfolding. We speak about how so much of our suffering comes from fighting reality. Arguing with what's happening. Wishing it were different. Complaining about it, resisting it, trying to control it. And how exhausting that can be. We share what helps us move from resistance into acceptance. Not liking what's happening. Not approving of it. Just accepting that it is what it is. We also talk about the tendency to fall into absolute thinking when life feels uncertain. The "always," the "never," the "nothing's going to change," the stories we tell ourselves when we're scared, overwhelmed, or trying to regain a sense of control. This conversation is about learning to be okay with the not-okayness of life. About trusting that difficult seasons don't last forever. And about remembering that sometimes the greatest relief comes not from changing your circumstances, but from accepting them. Being authentic all the time is unattainable

The goal is not to be 100% authentic all the time. That’s unattainable. If you think that’s the goal, you’ll spend your life feeling like you’re failing every time you people-please, shut down, react, perform, avoid conflict, seek approval, or slip back into old patterns. That’s not failure. That’s being human. I share about how authenticity isn’t a final destination where you suddenly become fully healed, fully self-expressed, fully “you” all the time. It’s noticing. It’s awareness. It’s catching yourself in the moments where you’re not being true to yourself and getting curious instead of judgmental. Why did I just abandon myself there? Why did I shrink? Why did I say yes when I meant no? What was I trying to protect? That’s the work. Becoming honest, aware, and willing to come back to yourself over and over again. This episode is a reminder that you are not failing because you still have moments where your ego, fear, conditioning, or old patterns take over. The magic is in noticing and choosing to return. Kat & Steve - The load of life

In this episode, Steve and I talk about something I think a lot of couples quietly go through: when the load of life becomes so heavy that it starts impacting the relationship. Not because love is gone or because anyone’s doing something terribly wrong. But because one person is overloaded, stretched thin, carrying too much and the relationship starts feeling the weight of it too. I share honestly about missing Steve recently, even while living in the same house. Missing the connection, the fun, the softness, the smooshiness of us. And how easy it can be, when one person is overwhelmed, for the other person to take it personally and create even more tension in the dynamic. Because when your needs aren’t being met, it hurts. But sometimes, the most loving thing you can do is recognise that your partner is drowning under the weight of life, and stop making their overwhelm about your rejection. We also speak about how unsustainable it is to carry too much for too long. Because if the overloaded person doesn’t deload, eventually something gives. Their health. Their nervous system. Their joy. The relationship. This is a conversation about perspective, compassion, communication, and recognising when life is simply asking too much of someone for too long. Play the long game

In this episode, I speak about the pressure I used to put on myself to heal quicker, grow quicker, feel better quicker, and become “better” faster. I genuinely believed that if I was doing the work on myself, then surely I should be further along by now. That mindset created so much suffering. I was constantly living with this quiet pressure in the background of my life, telling myself to hurry up, get there already, figure it out, fix it, improve. I struggled to let life unfold because I was too busy trying to force myself into the next version of me. But over time, life has shown me that the most meaningful things rarely happen quickly. Trusting yourself again takes time. Building healthy relationships takes time. Changing lifelong patterns takes time. Coming home to yourself takes time. None of the things that deeply changed my life happened overnight. They happened through small decisions, small shifts, and repeated moments where I chose to stay with myself instead of giving up on myself. And eventually, I looked back and realised that things had actually changed. Not because I rushed them, but because I stayed long enough for the change to happen. This episode is for anyone who feels frustrated with how long growth, healing, or life is taking. Maybe your life is not behind. Maybe your growth is not late. Maybe you just need to stop rushing yourself and play the long game.
