    Do You Have Trouble Sleeping?

Millions of us move through our days without getting enough sleep. We know that sleep deprivation can affect our physical health and our mood. But sleep researcher Chris Barnes says a chronic lack of good sleep can also affect how we make decisions and even what we value. He joins us to explore the forces that keep us from getting the rest we need, and offers practical strategies for getting better sleep. Later, psychologist Rachel Zoffness returns to answer your questions about the experience of pain, in our latest installment of "Your Questions Answered."  Is your parenting style preventing your child from thriving? We explore this question — and share five practical parenting strategies we've featured on Hidden Brain — in our latest YouTube video. Check it out here, and share your parenting strategies with us in the comments!  Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. 63 - Socijalna psihijatrija

What Happened When We Stopped Squatting?

In many parts of the world, people rest in a deep squat every day. In others, most adults can barely get down there. So what’s going on? Hannah Fry and Michael Stevens dig into the history of squatting and why the ability to squat differs so much between cultures.Plus, your questions: What happens to the air pressure inside a car when it goes round a bend? Why do some burps come out higher than others?

How Germany Is Keeping Its Grid Stable in a Wind-Powered Future - Part I

Prof. Clemens Jauch (Wind Energy Technology Institute, Flensburg University of Applied Sciences, Germany) In this episode, Dr. Paul Moses talks with Dr. Clemens Jauch about his path from car mechanic to leading wind energy researcher, and what it takes to keep Germany's increasingly wind-powered grid stable. They cover grid congestion and feed-in management, the evolution of low-voltage ride-through requirements, and the physics behind grid frequency and inertia. Professor Jauch explains synthetic inertia in plain terms, why batteries are overtaking wind turbines as the go-to source of grid support, and how EV charging and flywheel-based storage could shape the grid of the future. They also compare notes on how AI is reshaping engineering education on both sides of the Atlantic.
