Listen With Mae Martin
Mae Martin is a comedian, creator, actor, producer, writer, and musician, who fittingly hails from the effortlessly cool Toronto, Canada. Known for their dramedy series, Feel Good, which debuted on Netflix in 2020 — Martin’s style is characterized as loosely autobiographical comedy that is excellently written, deeply relatable, and frankly, hilarious.
When they’re not writing television or sweeping comedy awards, Martin can be found cohosting the outrageously funny Handsome podcast, alongside the iconic Tig Notaro and Fortune Feimster. Every week, the trio talks about anything and everything under the sun, bringing great guests and laugh-out-loud bits along for the ride.
Martin released their debut musical album (apple.co/maemartin) in February 2025, making it the perfect time for the Apple Podcasts team to catch up with them while their tour made an unforgettable stop at the Danforth Music Hall in Toronto. With us, they shared their passion for “the mythological and the whimsical", and how their routine for podcasts is affected by their needs to either "laugh, be distracted, or be plunged into the darkness of the human condition.” We rounded up their favourites—from Sarah Silverman’s ”wildly hilarious“ chat to S-Town’s poignant character narrative that will "keep you distracted from your own life" in a one-stop shop for both joy and reflection.
